our eyes lock and load across the crowded floor. The pounding in your chest cavity suggests love at first sight until you notice that it is just the dance beat pounding your skeletal system. Before you can squeeze off a killer smile, random bogeys obscure your target. The interference clears, but the target has disengaged.
Night magic or misery?

Somewhere out there is that dream bogey -- you know the one: mach-4 fuselage, heat-seeking ordinance, fueled for extended aerobatics. You are pumped for the possibilities of the wild strobed yonder.
Whether you're prowling solo, with a wingman or in close squadron formation, the night promises two kinds of dangers: a magical connection or a throbbing hangover. Which you end with depends on luck, skill and choice of air space. You can roll the dice at mass markets like Miyagis, Limelight, DNA Lounge, Kokomos. Or you can invest big bucks in cloak-and-dagger hideouts like Le Prive so numbered waiters can broker your action. Regardless of style, veterans know that magic rarely happens. A night of clubbing is more likely to end in an alcoholic haze laced with regret and a hangover. But once in a blue moon...

I wish there were more OC clubs for Asians on Fridays. The only thing crackin' is Sharks but that gets old after awhile. HIP HOP & ALCOHOL & ASIAN GUYS.....is that too much to ask?
Whoever starts one up will make a killing in $$$$. Me and my girls would be first in line. If you know of a place let me know...better not be your bedroom either...should be a cool spot.

My friend and I are promoters for the clubs in Baltimore. We would really like for you and other Asian communities to come join us in Baltimore. Last event, we had over 500 people come out and had a really great time! Currently, we are promoting at the Trust night club www.trustbaltimore.com. Check out Club Red at the Arena in Hollywood on Fri. nights...
Also on Saturdays check out Spundae at Circus which directly behind the Arena in Hollywood.
You can always hit up Korean clubs like LePrive or Bobos...
The Shark Club in Costa Mesa on Friday nights...

I've never been to Le Prive but I'd like to someday. I've driven by there many times on Fridays and Saturday nights and the women there... wow. However, all the people I saw standing out there seemed snobbish; not my type of crowd.
In Koreatown, when I want to go out and have fun, I usually just go to one of those drinking places, like "Chuh-Gah-Jeep" (on 3rd + Catalina), or "Stone Age" (on Wilshire + Alexandria). It's just getting DRUNK off your ass, nothing more, and it's fun.
BTW, for anyone who's interested, I'm doing a party at a club in the Koreatown area on Thanksgiving Eve (I think Nov.20), if anyone's interested I'll put up some more info. Myself and a few others will be the DJ's for the night, and it should be a lot of fun!

My fellow Chinese brothers and sisters in NYC,
If you could appreciate GOA/Psychedelic trance music (most of you probably never heard of it) and if you are not into the commercial shit and bullshit parties thrown by XO, GenAsia, or Tao Groove and other mainstream venues at EXIT, Roxy, SPA, bar/lounge, clubs...etc, then check out the underground parties thrown by "Synthetic Sadhus" and "OmniTribe". The music (GOA Trance) itself is underground and international and "full-on" hard. Sadhus is having one this Saturday, October 12th in Cinema World Studio in Brooklyn. OmniTribe tends to throw theirs in warehouses and in the woods out in Jersey with great decor. I can assure you that these parties are not for ravers. Check out their websites. Most of the patrons at these parties are over 21 years old. Predominantly, you see Israelis, Russians, Brazilians and some "mainstream". And if there are any Asians, they tend to be Japanese. So far, I have only seen two Chinese at these parties; that would be me and my friend. You decide if you want to be avante-garde!
My Chinese brothers and sisters, give the scene a try; you might love it.

Funny how things change so fast. I'm too old to club now, at 29, lest i want to be like one of those white guys on the prowl for some young Asian chick. Not too long ago most of the Asian clubs I went to in the L.A. area were filled with what most people would call FOBs (you said it, not me). And it was really funny because you could tell by the way they dressed as opposed to seeing how white, black, hispanic people of the same age dress. Not like i was any better. But I wasn't a FOB, mind you, just a dweeb, nerd, geek, cretin.
Anyway, so i'd go to these clubs on Hollywood Blvd. (Asian night was always like Thursday or Friday night) and i'd try to pick up on anything that moved. A lot of the time i'd get no for an answer. Ok, most the time. Ok, almost everytime except once or twice. Fact is, i spent more time with a glass in my hand than with another chick. And by the end of the night i was so faded i was worried about driving home and crashing into a tree.
I haven't been to a club in years so i can imagine the club scene has changed a lot. Like less FOBs and more American born Asians. So you have less people speaking in their ancestor's native tongue and less people dressing like the style on another continent. But the song remains the same, yeah? Young girls walking around with their g-strings exposed, dancing with other hot girls, saying no to all the men so they can boost their own ego. Young horny guys walking around, looking for lust in all the wrong places, knowing full well that men outnumber women 5 to 1 in clubs, so it's really like a Darwinian survival of the fittest deal here.
Ummm, i know i had a point to all this. Oh yeah, what i was going to say was: to all you young, horny Asian guys out there, don't make the same mistake i made, looking for nice girls at clubs or even looking to have fun. Don't waste your time with clubs. If you want to endulge your earthly pleasures go to a strip joint! LOL!

It really depends on what night you go out. On Tuesdays its the Roxy's in the galleria area, on Friday's its Tonic in downtown, On Saturdays its Spy or Boaka Bar in downtown. Those are all predominantly Asian clubs that play top 40's, techno/trance, and hip hop music. Any more questions, just ask.

hey there raleigh, nc. lucky you. i went to nc state and had a blast. nc state has a pretty good asian student association of which i was part of many years ago. there's more asians than you think. clubs are downtown, but you must be a freshmen so no clubbin' for you. i used to complain about nc, until i moved to ohio....
