WHAT DO WF LIKE BEST ABOUT AM?
(Updated Tuesday, Apr 1, 2008, 05:52:03 PM)

hen many people see a pretty white woman with a good-looking Asian man the question that pops into their heads is "Why's she with him?" more often than "Why's he with her?"
It's only natural. We've been told so often about the desirability of white women that we simply presume that an Asian man too would find a pretty white women desirable. But we are left to guess at her possible motives for being with him. Not that there aren't hundreds of thousands of handsome, charming and successful Asian men who, by all rights, should be attractive to women of any race. But we are all too aware that American society has built up many negative preconceptions about Asian men that would take extraordinary consideration, some special X factor, to overcome.
The many examples of famous AM/WF couples (Mr/Mrs Yo-Yo Ma, Ming Tsai, Scott Oki, Charles Wang etc), don't really help, merely reinforcing the common presumption that the AM must be wealthy and able to provide an exceptional degree of financial security, material comfort or social status. Another common suspicion is that he must be unusually charming, cultured or sexually gifted. Then there's the old standby -- that the woman must have some odd fixation on Asian men or Asian culture.
Of course intellectually we know better. Just as there are many independent-minded Asian men who see through blonde bimbo stereotypes to the real qualities of white women, there are white women who ignore stereotypes about Asian men. Which leads to the question: What's the real draw? Is it the black hair? educational level? smooth skin? cultural values? upslanting eyes? personality and character traits? Here's a chance for white women who love Asian men to set the record straight.

ionic,

I do the same thing with inkwashes at the art gallery. They are really cool, some are similar to what you did in your photos. You sound like a very talented man. Wow, brains and looks! Do you plan to work for any art galleries?
your such a cutie!

Bro, I just looked at your pics and one thing that seems obvious to me is that you may be a little too into your own body. I don't usually see this level of self-obsession outside of gay circles.

You might want to start thinking about ways to spend your time other than staring admiringly at your naked self in a mirror. Go out on real dates with real WFs and admire *them* instead.

Venice Beach,

I'm working very hard to try to find that "asiatic" is an offensive term. I'm on the internet and at the local library researching like a madman on a mission. I'm working harder than you are on your project, at least i'm not trying to have sex with the books. BTW, you must show EVERYONE in this room your picture too. I demand.
Ionic, I think I'm in love with you too, j/k LOL...Nah, I don't swing that way. I love sarcasm!

Hi all. I first came this site because I'm an asian guy who likes caucasian girls. But now, I had to put my 2 cents about the That 70s show guy. I'm pretty sure that guy is not asian whatsoever. I don't think he even looks asian. I think he's hispanic, or latin, or south american, etc.

To Venice Beach, there's something about you that I like. I'm not exactly sure what. By the way u write, I think I can tell that you're a happy, friendly person, and I like that. Maybe we can email, chat, or whatever.

See ya

hey people if you want you can check out my album that i recently started:

photos.yahoo.com/ojanimal/

the last 5 pictures are pictures that i've been fiddling with on photoshop.
i'm taking a drawing class and, although not direcly related, started wondering how color functions to affect physical perception e.g., how does a photo in red make you feel as opposed to its negative.

and thanks to all of the ladies for the great feedback. i'm flattered.

venice beach -

thanks for the compliment. you're too kind. in fact, i don't have a girlfriend. i had to break up with the last one because i just moved and am not down with the long distance relationship thing.

i don't know about asiatic, why not just go with asian?

about your study: good luck. i'll try to be helpful, but i'm not down with cyber-sex, or any kind of sex, unless we were actively dating.

Venice Beach, CA:

Whoa, a psych study involving sex? COUNT ME IN! Is it paying as well?

Getting PAID to have sex. Hmmm.....well, if it's for the good of science, then somebody has to do it!

(By the way, we're practically neighbors!)

Hi everybody!!! Sorry for using the word oriental. I always thought it was very exotic sounding, and mysterious and beautiful. It reminded me of something forbidden and wonderful!

Ionic,
I think you are really sexy! I have to send you a picture of me too! You must have a girlfriend, you are so goodlooking! Wow!

I have many asiatic friends. Is asiatic okay to say? If not, correct me again please. Be patient, I'm still learning you guys! I am attracted to a few of them. I eventually want one for a longterm boyfriend. I am doing a really cool psychology case study in a course. I need to find 4 asiatic men who would participate. I am going to involve sex. Who knows! Maybe I will find a boyfriend out of it! Wouldn't that be so groovey you guys? Wish me luck you cool dudes and dudettes!

Oh and thanx for the info on that tv guy, mmmm!! hes so yummy yummy!

Lordt78 provided the link: http://news.ncmonline.com/news/view_article.html?article_id=143,
“The word ‘oriental’ carries with it racist overtones and anyone who thinks that those offended by it are just hypersensitive do not understand the implications of what it means to be stereotyped,” --Washington Rep. Velma Veloria told PNews.
But also in the article: "Many Asian Americans are unaware that the term “Oriental” is offensive"

According to Webster, oriental means the following:
1. of, relating to, or constituting the biogeographic region that includes Asia south and southeast of the Himalayas and the Malay Archipelago west of Wallace's line
2. of superior grade, luster, or value

Doesn't sound very negative to me. But then, I guess I was one of those Asian Americans that was unaware the term is offensive. So, thanks for the news flash, because from now on, I will learn to act offended when I hear the use of the "O" word!
