WHAT DO WF LIKE BEST ABOUT AM?
(Updated Tuesday, Apr 1, 2008, 05:52:03 PM)

hen many people see a pretty white woman with a good-looking Asian man the question that pops into their heads is "Why's she with him?" more often than "Why's he with her?"
It's only natural. We've been told so often about the desirability of white women that we simply presume that an Asian man too would find a pretty white women desirable. But we are left to guess at her possible motives for being with him. Not that there aren't hundreds of thousands of handsome, charming and successful Asian men who, by all rights, should be attractive to women of any race. But we are all too aware that American society has built up many negative preconceptions about Asian men that would take extraordinary consideration, some special X factor, to overcome.
The many examples of famous AM/WF couples (Mr/Mrs Yo-Yo Ma, Ming Tsai, Scott Oki, Charles Wang etc), don't really help, merely reinforcing the common presumption that the AM must be wealthy and able to provide an exceptional degree of financial security, material comfort or social status. Another common suspicion is that he must be unusually charming, cultured or sexually gifted. Then there's the old standby -- that the woman must have some odd fixation on Asian men or Asian culture.
Of course intellectually we know better. Just as there are many independent-minded Asian men who see through blonde bimbo stereotypes to the real qualities of white women, there are white women who ignore stereotypes about Asian men. Which leads to the question: What's the real draw? Is it the black hair? educational level? smooth skin? cultural values? upslanting eyes? personality and character traits? Here's a chance for white women who love Asian men to set the record straight.

WHAT YOU SAY

Are you not making my point here? Terms like chink, gook, and slant eye are meant to offend, whereas oriental is not. Don't tell me you can't tell the difference between a compliment and an insult. For me to just blindly follow anybody to come along and try to artificially manufacture Asian outrage over something innocuous means only I am too stupid to think for myself and that I need to some else to tell me how to feel. Maybe there are a lot of people out there that can't distunguish between insults and compliments and they need a cheat sheet of "offensive" words to clue them in on when they are being insulted or not.

Thanks, I will check it out when I am there. I am a small town kind a guy. I don't like big city. I live in NYC for 7 years and now in Boston for a nother two, enough of the crazy city cap drivers. Beside, I tend to score better in a small town :-). Thanks. If you have a specific bar or clubs where there are mixed cultures, I would love to hear about it.
How far is San Diego to LA ? Is it a one day trip?

If you don't mind replying to me by email, I think that would be great ( so we don't mislead this forum into other subject )

Thanks

3d,

You are on CRACK!! The ethnic character on the 70s Show is played by WILMER VALDERAMA, a native South American. I forget the country though. You moron... Check www.imdb.com (Internet Movie Database) before you talk some more rubbish. Asian my ASS. The guy on the 80s show is Asian, that much is clear.

3d,

Whoa, take it easy man. I didn't put my 2 cents in to get slammed. The guy's name is Wilmer Valderrama. He was born to a Venezuelan father and Colombian mother. Those nationalities are not asian. This is the Internet, u could look it up yourself. Even if I was completely wrong, there's no need to talk to me like I'm a dumbass. I didn't come here to talk about that dude anyway, and it's way off track about the purpose of this site, so that's the last I'm going to say about that. No hard feelings man. Have a good one everyone.

Bostonian,

San Diego is a small town, not as much to do as in LA. But if you know where to look, a good time can be had still. Check out some guide boox like the "Let's Go!" travel book series (the Cali edition). According to Lets Go, the Mission Beach area (just south of LA Jolla) is where all the college age people party (mostly bars and bar/clubs). So if ur in that age bracket, then you're in luck! IF ur older, then I suggest that you visit Balboa Park and the History Gas Lamp District in Downtown for some food and fun (cafes, restaurants, some bars/clubs). Have fun, bro.

Venice Beach, CA,

Hey, sweetie--I was in your neighborhood this morning, on my jog. No, I don't have a girlfriend; broke up with her a couple months ago (we were totally incompatable). I'm dating casually right now, but nothing serious. Why don't you shoot me an email, and maybe we can chat?

thanks for the compliment. i don't plan on doing anything for art galleries; i don't know that there's a big demand for photos of half-naked asian guys. but thanks anyways for the thought.

phil - i didn't take the pictures. my ex-gf did. i don't stare at the mirror; it's just that, after a long day in business casual, i usually opt for the naked or close-to-naked look in the confines of my apt. it just feels more natural that way. you don't think i go out on real dates with wfs? believe me, i admire, and then some.

venice beach - that's cool; the whole cyber-sex thing freaks me out. i haven't thought of modeling; i don't think i would meet the height requirement since i'm only 5'8. plus, there's not a huge demand for am models in the us.

Showtime,

you said,
I had to put my 2 cents about the That 70s show guy. I'm pretty sure that guy is not asian whatsoever. I don't think he even looks asian. I think he's hispanic, or latin, or south american, etc.

Comment,

Thanks for giving us your opinion and judgement, we appreciated. And your welcome with more opinion and judgement on issues.

But.... what are you talking about? He's not "asain whatsoever", huh, are you seeing things, dreaming, or on drugs. I tell you he is asain 100%. He has a lot of asain characteristics. Maybe you have to look yourself in the mirror to see what asain feature he resembles with you.
He is not "hispanic, or latin, or south american" at all. You should go out more often and see more people and know how to recongnize features.
