The FAA's Office of the Associate Administrator for Commercial Space Transportation (AST) is actively recruiting aerospace engineers to support its safety responsibilities for commercial expendable and reusable launch vehicle operations; reentry vehicle operations; and launch site and reentry site operations.

Employees selected for these positions will:

  • Work in a small, high performance organization responsible for public safety during ground and flight operations of launch vehicles;

  • Assess the safety of a wide variety of leading edge technologies and systems including reusable launch vehicles and expendable launch vehicles;
  • Perform hands-on-safety inspections and monitoring of commercial launch and launch site operations;
  • Work with industry on rapidly expanding launch vehicle and launch site technology;
  • Perform challenging and rewarding work on the development of public safety standards and requirements addressing new reusable and expendable launch vehicle concepts.
