i think that they are a significant number of asian women who find black males attractive. but they are affected by many sterotypes and thus won't act on their instincts.

in countries such as jamaica, there are people who are of african and chinese descent. many prominent african- americans have intermarried with asians. thurgood marshall, reginald lewis, rap mogul russell simmons' wife (who is half japanese and black) and tiger woods' father are just some examples.

many asians are perceived to be (rightly or wrongly) to be more socially, culturally and politically attuned with white america than with blacks. though a large are now into black art forms this has not translated into a solid political bloc where trust is generated from support of core issues and values.

i am concerned however when black men just want asians because they have features associated with whites such as straight hair and thin noses. if however its based on an affinity and mutual respect of each other's culture. beauty comes in all forms and i think its wrong especially for rappers to glorify mixed blacks over blacks who aren't mixed. i'll go crazy if i hear one more rap song or see one more rap video where there is a fetish glorification of the black asian mix. listen to wu-tang/ghostface killa and check out the current video by the r&b group prophet jones. blacks and asians can date/marry/etc.. but it shouldn't lead to an over glorified status for those who do so and thier children. this is a problem in places like trinidad and guyana. dark skin blacks have a rough time in those areas and many of the indians in those areas believe they are superior to blacks.

a book i recommend for everyone is "the african presence in ancient asia" - by runoko rashidi. it details the african presence in ancient asia and presents interesting info on the roots of modern asians.

Lot has been said about black men having white fetish, but I have only dated non-white women, including Asian Americans.

His grandfather (paternal or maternal, it did not say) was 75% Lebanese. The rest in his family are white. Anyway, going by the one drop rule for blacks that they had in Jim Crowe Lousiana, if applied fairly, makes Cookesy an Arab. He may not like it and may not have any control over it. But, that is life. And for everyone's information, other bigots from Louisiana including Rep. Chris John and Rep. Bill Tauzin also have Lebanese blood.

I am an African American male, and I would like to meet an Asian female. The problem is I have no clue where to go to meet Asian women.

Now as for the "I don't think they would find me attractive" question, from the "Asian Female/African Amerian Male Relationship" article. If you never ask you will never know. Many African American men find Asian women to be very attractive.

Now as for the family issue I understand wanting your family to approve of the things you do, but is there not a point in your life where you must live for yourself.

And last but not least, Why have a topic women of asian decent dating men of african decent?? Should it not be just about men dating women??

The world has many races and many cultures, and in each of them you have those whom seek to be apart of the brotherhood of man, those who wish to co-exist with it,and those who fear it.

Because your poll is more interested with race, I must ask "Which such person are you".

I'm sure I've missed something, I don't understand why all the discussion about East Indians. I have seen several of them here in the states and I've noticed a couple of them were in interracial relationships.

My cousin (who is a doctor) is in a relationship with an East Indian woman (who is also a doctor). There was an article in the Star Tribune (Minneapolis) about a white male doctor and a female East Indian doctor who had a traditional East Indian wedding here in town.

I'm sure there are many other examples. I believe that it's possible for people of different races and backgrounds to connect if they find they have something in common (usually educational goals or careers). If they make this connection and truly love each other and come from families that truly love and respect them and want them to be happy, then they will be together in the end!

We all know that as this world becomes more connected (through commerce, technology and travel) there will be more instances of people of different races making connections. There will still be difficulties from people trying to resist change and trying to ruin other people's happiness but that won't prevail in the end.

To all of you who want to stay with your own kind, that's fine, do that and keep your opinions to yourself. You have the right to be with who you want to be and we all have that same right too! You've said what you have to say, it's been noted and you can leave now.

To everyone else, continue to have faith and patience and keep trying to make connections.

About 10%. Most actually marry Indians but outside their caste or language group. But, a significant proportion also marries within its own group. For many Tamil Christians, Caste is God and above Jesus Christ. In this regard, they are not very different from white Americans for many of whom their white skin color is God and Jesus Christ is insignificant. Pretty much idolatory, which this groupd frequently condemns.

In the States people don't have as many hang-ups as the old world cultures."

Do not dispute with you about the attitudes of the whites in UK. However, white Americans are no less ignorant, and more so in the south. Southern whites are the most ignorant and racist group of white people in the world. Louisiana Congressman Cookesy makes a racial remark about Arabs. But, the fact is he himself is one-tenth Arab. White people in Louisiana want Arab Americans to carry identification papers, which means at least thirty percent of these bigots have to carry these papers, as they are at least fifteen percent Lebanese. May be we should begin with them first and start with Congressman Cookesy.

Ignorant white Americans cannot distinguish between South Asians and Arabs. Thus, a Sikh was shot dead in Arizona and a Pakistani in Texas. Some of them perpetuating these crimes may be from Louisiana and even probably part Arab, although they will try and deny their heritage. I myself had to carry a Spanish newspaper everyday to stop the white Americans in the public transportation from staring at me.

True. Actually, I have seen more AW/BM couples in the Caribbean than anywhere else in the world including South Africa and the United States. In fact I think, I might have seen five Indian Woman/Black Man couples. However, I have seen a lot of other Asian Woman/Black Men couples, in particular involving Korean and Filipina women, and whites and other Asians stare at them.
