To Everyone; then to thinkbrothers:

I am new to this forum, so first of all, what is this place all about, anyway? Let's talk about being together in peace, not pushing others opinions on ourselves and each other. Aren't there more cerebral conversations than why people of other races want to get a piece? (not that I'm not down for that kind of talk) I read some of the posts (not completely) and it seems that some people have a problem with people who happen to like other races, or something, just don't come here. Me, I like all races, and have dated just about every "general" group there is, . but I must admit that I am attracted to Asian women more so than others outside my race. Secondly, I myself am an African American with a earlier Jamaican-Chinese-Native American ancestry thing going on (I don't know the full story, but then again, most Jamaicans aren't so racist as to differentiate), so somewhere somebody's parents "approved". : ) But I am African American by look, face, and form. I came from Michigan but now I live in Tempe, Arizona and just finished my Bachelor degree in Graphic Design about a month ago.(Whew!) So If anyone wants to talk about anything positive, just let me know!

ok, now for thinkbrothers,

I really hate to make my first letter to this forum one of a combative nature, but I saw such a despondent reply to your comments that I had to read them for myself; you warrant a significant e-beatdown. I won't comment on the majority of your mostly ignorant statements, but I will say something towards your following manifesto: "In fact I think slavery has done so much damage mentally that most cannot think right!"

If you must know, almost as soon as our descendants got off the boat they were already making a name for themselves,

Look up Phyllis Wheatly, who in the midst of the slavery conditions of her time, became a poet, I know of none in England's counterpart slavery disporia
of rising to such heights. Also look up Nat Turner, who was one of many who lead slave rebellions across the American colonies. Could it be that my studies are lacking, because I cannot recall any mention of revolt in England, maybe you can educate me. Perhaps I am not "thinking right". We have our own music, clothing lines, our own culture, and our own sense of self; with or without the African descent variable; we even have our own television channel. I don't see other nations dancing to the distinct musical stylings from Europeans of recent African descent. Yet I can go to England, Corea, Kenya, or anywhere else that's chic and see people of all financial levels enjoying Reggae, Jazz, Salsa, Hip-Hop, Rock, Blues, or Techno, among others. I see backward English television shows of pushy "H.N.I.C.s" who jump to the whip of their white "bosses"; that is, when they let you all on their shows at all. Yes, I know that American shows have a long way to go, but at least we are on our way there. In America, we used to have shows like that, but that was in the 70's. I guess we weren't "thinking right" because WE changed the perception of ourselves. Just like WE pushed for our freedom as well as our equality instead of our government merely deciding to giving it to us at their leisure, like they did in England. Probably because we weren't "thinking right". I can go on about how African Americans contributed to science, law, medicine, sports, commerce, the inventive spirit of America, music, dance, you name it. and not just domestically, but internationally as well. Or how about Ivan van Sertima, a man from the Americas (I consider all who fall under your umbrella methodology) who is single-handedly re-writing on how Africans travelled to ancient Asia, The Americas, and Europe hundreds of years ago. Look up your "dark ages" in European History. Out of those times Moors ruled Europe for approximately 500 years. Many of the royal insignias, including the one for your current monarchy, have BLACK MEN on them and are originally from royal black houses. But why am I telling you this, you live in Europe, Surely the Europeans of African descent know all about your ancient counterparts, don't you? Well, It seems that we are "thinking right" compared to you redcoats. Perhaps you can direct my attention towards a book from one of your "enlightened" Afri-Euro brothers. I don't fault you, necessarily. But next time you want to label someone as not thinking right, you might just want to take a long look into the mirror and the collective mirror of of YOUR subculture before you spew such futile opinions.

P.S.
Don't bother to reply, I problably won't respond to your rantings.

Chinese Female,

I couldn't get into that site! Why don't you just tell us briefly what had happened with your cousin.

Thinkbrothers and Blackman in Japan:

I'm an American who lived in England for 7 years, so here are my 2 cents:

1. The Brits are less uptight about interracial relationships and homoerotic relationships. I've seen lots of ads and TV shows featuring a white woman and a black man or an (East) Asian. (Asian in Britain usually refers to Pakistani or Indian rather than Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) I've seen a lot of those couples walking around too: they do exist.

2. Americans may go on and on about equal opportunities but most are a bunch of stinking hypocrites. Especially those at elite colleges and universities. When I was a student at Oxford, I had a less difficult time getting teaching (experience) from the Oxford colleges than the dumb American satellite programs like Williams C. and Stanford U. which only wanted to hire whites to teach English--or at least those with Western surnames. OK, the Brits weren't completely forthcoming, but they at least gave me a chance when the Americans wouldn't. (If I were ever to have a reason for hating my own people, that would have to be IT!)

3. I like being able to find Indian, Chinese, Italian, Greek food in a regular supermarket, like an M&S, Sainsbury's or Tesco's. (I'd like to see some Ethiopian and Moroccan food tho'...)All we have here in the US are those dumb frozen egg rolls and chop suey: the white man's version of Chinese food.

4. The Brits are more environmentally conscious. The American gov't could give a rat's ass about global warming and the fact that up to 2/3 of the continents are going to be deluged by floods or suffer terrible droughts. Hey, who cares about pollution (and we are the world's biggest polluters) when the only important thing is *business*??

5. BTW, there are lots of Americans who end up staying in Britain.

But there are cons too.

1. While America leads when it comes to violent crimes like murder, the Brits are worse when it comes to petty theft. Supposedly, 1 out of 3 British men serve time for non-motoring offenses. (BTW, the first and only time I ever got robbed was in Britain.)

2. It's true that America has the KKK, David Duke, etc., but Britain has its Enoch Powell and Norman Tebbitt.

3. I would like to see more minorities in Britain at middle management level. (This is why affirmative action in the U.S. is helpful, even if it's mostly white females who end up benefitting from it.)

4. The old plumbing has got to go! Hot and cold H2O spigots in the year 2001??? (No wonder, so few care about personal hygiene...and why there's so much B.O.! Ugh!)

In the end, tHe U.S. and U.K. could learn a lot from one another.

I've posted on here a few times, as well as my Korean girlfriend. She came down to visit me last weekend, and she met the family, we had a great time, and I want us to have many more. I unintentionally put a slight strain on our relationship as of late by a lie that escalated, and I hope that she forgives me for being such an ass. I have loved her since day one, and I'm not willing to lose her over something I shouldn't have done. My family's opinion of you, as well as my own, has not changed....the reunion for next year is still on, and I really want you there with me, Lisa.

Now that's a contribution to the board, Thanks for an example of what this board can be. In the final analysis hate seems to be more interesting than love in some peculiar way.

NeoKat:

You must be from Philadelphia. The tragedy happened on sunday, right. I really had a lot of respect for her. Only a strong Asian woman can be an anchor in a racist town such as Savannah. Perhaps she could not take it and hence eventually moved out. I am sure that she will be sorely missed.
