to BM Critic:

here's a couple of facts and links for you:
1. Berbers WERE blacks!

http://education.yahoo.com/search/be?lb=t&p=url%3Ab/berbers

Speakers of the various Berber languages of the Maghrib, incl. Tamazight, Tashahit, and Tarifit. Berber-speakers were the original inhabitants of N. Africa, though many regions succumbed first to Roman colonization and later to the Arab conquests beginning in the 7th cent. AD. Berbers gradually accepted Islam, and many switched to Arabic or became bilingual, though the Berber languages are still spoken in some rural and mountain areas of Morocco and Algeria and by some inhabitants of Tunisia and Libya. Since the 1990s Berber intellectuals have sought to revive interest in the language. The Berber-speaking Almoravid and Almohad dynasties built empires in NW Africa and Spain in the 11th-13th cent. See also Abd al-Krim, Kabyle, Rif, Shawia.

and #2. so were Moors (here's a reference from a Arab)

http://ri.essortment.com/whoweremoorsi_ogk.htm

In his work, “The Moor: Light of Europe’s Dark Age,” Wayne B. Chandler offers the following definition of the Moors: “Although the term Moor has been put to diverse use, its roots are still traceable. Circa 46 B. C., the Roman army entered West Africa where they encountered black Africans whom they called ‘Maures’ from the Greek adjective mauros, meaning dark or black.” Traditionally, the Moors were the African people who occupied northwest Africa, or present-day Morocco and Mauritania. These same African people became converts to Islam in the seventh century and have since been mistakenly identified by western European scholars as Arabs, Mohammedans, Saracens, etc. W. E. B Dubois in his work, “The World and Africa,” wrote on this subject, “The Arabs brought the new religion of Mohammed into North Africa. During the seventh century, they did not migrate in great numbers. Spain was conquered not by Arabs, but by armies of Berbers and Negroids led by Arabs.”

so you see, a little research will keep one from looking like a fool.

I was hoping to see more information and personal experiences regarding this subject. I am an Afro-American male who is in his early 30's. I'm married to a beautiful Vietnamese woman whom I love very much. I was hoping to see other people views and get an understanding of thier relationship dynamics.

To: BM Critic,

I'm not trying to pick an argument with you; however, I'm just wondering what your last post has to do with the subject of this poll "Asian women/African-American male relationships", would you please explain?

Wlcome my friend. By virtue of the fact you didn't know Moors were Black, suggest to me you probably know very little if anything at all about the
Black man in America.

NeoKat:

I visited Savannah in 1998, but did not encounter racism there. My test is the "Thai Restaurant" test. In the Thai restaurant in downtown Savannah there were only three people on a weekday, Monday, July 14, 1998. Other "American Restaurants" were full of white people. The food was good at the Thai restaurant.

However, I ran into a bunch of white high school girls from Savannah at the Windsor Castle in on June 20, 1999. They thought very highly about themselves, made jokes about African American males dating "Chinese" females. They also said that their plantation houses looked as grand as the Windsor Castle. They were going to wait for Queen Elizabeth to show up and meet with them!! Of all the audacity. Perhaps they wanted to tell the queen that they left England as peasants, but they are themselves now or royal blood!!

Moors are black? And all this time I thought they were Ber Bers, Arabs and blacks. Looking at the populataion of Morocco it would appear they were mostly darkk Arabs. I suggest the black people of America then reach out to all the Arabs (I mean black) brothers who are being harrassed in America and being marginalized right now. Or are they only black when it is in the context of historic accomplishments or whenever it suits you.

Asian Female:

You seem to frequent the same areas I did. I KNOW about Savannah with the racism. I really think that it was opportunity rather than racism that made Siani Lee leave. She seemed too strong to be scared off. She was beautiful as well as intelligent. It's terrible to think that if she wore her seat belt she might be still alive. Thanks for responding:-)

To the people on this poll with any common sense,

Apparently this guy "think brothers" has done nothing but wast everyone's time, here, and taken up valuable internet space on this web site with his nonsense and mindless accusations and comments. In my opinion, as well as with the obvious opinion of others, "Think brothers" is perhaps the truest example of a "POMPOUS IDIOT" the world has ever seen. So I think it's time we forget this stupid idiotic knucklehead who speaks pretentiously about the world we live in --- a wold he obviously knows little if anything about --- and move on to more meaningful topics; stuff that is more productive than "think brothers' " obviously naive, unfounded Bullsh_t. If you ask me, I think he just wants attention. Let's move on people....
