Hello All,

I am new to this board and wanted to introduce myself. I am a black American male, 29 y/o residing in the state of Florida. I have been reading the posts on this board for the past few days now, and I am glad to see that there is at least SOME productive conversation going on between blacks and Asians. Its been a long time coming, I suppose. There seems to be a few antagonists on this board who wish only to perpetuate the divide that exists between us. Unfortunately I have seen this all over the internet. I hope that there are plenty of people posting here who are sincerely interested in having positive conversations about relationships between black men and Asian women. I am looking forward to it.

I've heard the same remark in England too--that white guys are more obsessed with weight than black guys. But I think whites in general are just more obsessed with conventional attractiveness, or whatever that is being offered up in the media, because they've always been the ones trying to set the standard.

I am glad to find that there are at least this one medium to at last initiate some dialog between African Americans and Asians.

Something needs to be done to destroy the stereotypes fed to Asians and others coming to this country. With understanding I think that there could be more understanding and roots in cultural backgrounds to grow.

I do apologize for bringing up such a distraction for discussion, the main focus is about relationships and here we are talking about history.

Hopefully my next post will talk about my relationships in detail, but I have to complete a task right now.

(kudos to Salaam from the Sea, yet I was talking about the origins of the names and the peoples behind the names at the time, It could be argued that all Americans could be called Native Americans is not necessarily accurate just because of the racial mixing of the past, it is the total assimilation of one group into another which gives the wearers of the name that right, which incidentally happened in N. Africa. Not that I disagree, but I think we are looking at this at two different perspectives) : )

You just confirmed what I knew all along that people are people. If your cousins married African Americans... and you yourself married somebody with "darker" skin tones... Well, now I have hope for the human race. My cousin married a korean woman and my Chinese friend at my former job married somebody from India. I, myself have met and meet a number of Asian women that stared and smiled at me. At first I thought it was courtesy, but now I should re-examine that fact. See, I knew you were intelligent ;-)

A Korean girl that I have a couple classes with, told me that she prefers black guys to white guys because she seems to notice(though I can't really tell the difference), that black guys aren't as obsessed with the weight of a girl as white guys are. When I first heard her say it, I thought it was an extreme generalization to make, but I have actually heard white dudes discussing females and saying she needs to lose a few pounds, and I've been around black guys that look at girls and don't really give the weight issue a thought. It depends on the individuals taste, but I'm wondering if that generalization really is true.

I don't like to say this but I have to. If you are dating 3 black guys you're obviously not being serious about them... so how could you expect other men to not just 'want sex'?
You can't generalise that black men just want sex... it has to do with your attitude and behaviour.
