Sorry Neokat,

I'm only able to converse in one language --- English. I do know many phases in Thai language (mostly, survival phrases for travelers), however, which I've learned from my many Thai friends. I felt it would be useful since I do plan to visit the country one day.

How difficult would it be to learn to speak Thai?...Hmm...I can't really say, but one thing I've noticed that is strikingly different about Thai language, as compared to English, is that Thai language does not have "verb tenses" --- you know, past, present, & future tense (I forgot how they relate those concepts, but they don't do it the way we do). Another thing that I have notice is that some of the words in their phrases differ according to what sex the speaker is:

Example: "I'm fine, thank you" =

Chun sa-bai-dee, kob kun na kha (female speaker use "Chun" & "kha")

Phom sa-bai-dee, kob kun na krab (male speaker use "Phom" & "krab")

Perhaps that'll give you some idea of what their language is like. Hope you found my info. useful. See ya...

To NeoKat,

I am struggling with Japanese, but it is slowly getting better. Part of my problems is trying to take classes in the evening, along with working full-time during the day. It's hard to find time to practice and to keep up with the homework load.

The sentence structure is a bitch for me (since it's almost opposite of how we write/think in English.) My biggest hurdle is just accepting that at my age it is possible for me to learn this language, I'm slowly beginning to believe it!

I want to eventually go to school in Japan while I am working for my company there. I am nowhere near ready for the language proficiency exam I will have to take, I'm just going to keep studying and working with this and Lord Willing I'll be ready for the exam by the end of this year.

I know you can do this, you have to practice as often as you can, work hard and BELIEVE you can do it! Oh yes, and be patient with yourself.

Take care,
