Not to fear (Your Pal):
I only know enough Mandarin Chinese to get in trouble.... now. I see we're having trouble with the acting "Black" situation. Troublesome issue however you will always be reminded that you're Black whether good or bad. My advice, be yourself. Being ghetto is not equal to POSITIVE BLACKNESS. I'm proud of my blackness without embaressing that part of my culture. Blacks have done so much to be proud of although it's not discussed as it should.
Now for the relationship part, ladies out there... my brother in law is a young industrious man. At 19 he bought his own car, very business wise, well mannered, and over 6 feet tall. He has had more asian women approach him than he can handle. Question... is his lifestyle what the asian culture deem attractive? And what of "green" eyes... that's a good omen in asian culture right?

we're back, but if you haven't noticed, we're communicating in "English" here.

perhaps we're reading from the same page but a different book. I do not associate those behaviors that you detail with "acting black". Those behaviors are negative to say the least and destructive to say the most. I think we actually agree in principal and I fully accept and respect your personal experiences.
Thus another compelling reason why black people should not bother to respond to "baited" questions by white people which are only intended to cause "confusion" among people who would otherwise be united in philosphy and actions.
Peace

To meet the real joe black : I guess I really should have read what white was saying first before orignally replying and giving thaihorse and you the wrong idea. But when I read about the "acting white" part it just struck a nerve. I ended up getting in fights for that bullsh*t in school.

meet the real joe black :

You're gut is wrong. I went to an majority black highschool. Some people were good but a lot weren't.Let me explain to you. Pretty much all the people who claimed I was'nt black enough were either smoking, cutting class all the time, cursing nonstop, getting mad about everything little thing you do, completely hated anything that is not rap, some were the popular type, and disliked or even hated anything or one who did'nt act or look like them.I kid you not. This is the point I was trying to get across.Because I simply acted different in their eyes I was white.I did'nt sound white, I did'nt act white, all my friends were either black or asian at school.I was just different. The people who said this were'nt really good people to begin with. They were nice on the outside when you had something they wanted, but if they did'nt like you or did'nt do what they said, they would accuse you of things. This is what they accused me of.It was really annoying.(the school was small so word spread fast) And because I tried to let it pass and thought nothing of it, the rumors began to pass around and get way out of hand. All those things I said before about not listening to rap, preferring vollyball over basketball, dressing with loose rather than baggy clothes, they used as so called proof.Reading what that other guy said brought up bad old memories and I responded.Sorry if you read it wrong. But my last 2 years of highschool were like that.

It's nice to see an intelligent discussion on this issue.

Thaihorse,

F***en A bro!!! I am an Asian man, and I was MOVED by your nifty little speech. Props, brother. I'd let you date my sister any day... if I had one that is. Haha... Anyway, I agree with many of the things you say. Have a nice day man.
Now thas what I'm talking about!!!    Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 22:32:44 (PDT)

something in my gut tells me you are indeed "not black enough" ! Not hatin, just statin. If that is the case then accept the fact that you really can't comment on acting white, cause you don't even know how to act black.
p.s. I have no intention of trying to explain anything to a white boy, who curiously is here commenting on black/asian relationships. Hmmm.... just what does he find interesting over here anyway ??? I wonder????
