Hidden Identity,

I Opened My Horizons clearly wrote, "...in the AMERICAS..." The Americas basically means the whole western hemisphere. This includes North America, Central America, South America, & the Caribbean Islands & not just the United States.

Also, when he wrote, "I know lots of black women (even here in the USA) who wouldn't think twice of giving an Asian man a chance." It seems to me that he is saying, in other words, that lots of Black women would date an Asian man in a heartbeat & that they do not have to think twice about it. I'm not confused by what he wrote, but it sounds like you are so I thought I'd help you out.

One last thing, Asian men did choose Black women as their wives early on in US history. Check out this link:

Thanks so much for your post. I know "Hidden Identity" was confused but I wasn't by your post. While I wasn't aware of the stats you mentioned, it is good to hear. I think black women in general are very friendly. Of course there are ALWAYS exceptions to the rule but I would have no problem being nice to an AM if he approached me, even if I wasn't interested I would still be nice to him. I'm polite to anyone that is polite to me :-) Is there anything in particular that you like about black women? Such as looks or stature or strength of character? Just curious. I didn't realize how much Asian men were attracted to black women until I moved to LA. But I am curious what attracts you to them besides history.

Have you thought about getting him some professional help? This sounds very serious & just holding him might not be enough. You sound as if you are madly in love with this man. If you feel as deeply as you sound, then seek a psychiatrist who has studied (with emphasis on) death, grief, & behaviors of such.

If I am not mistaken, I remember reading one of your posts on another forum. Do you recall? You specifically stated that you are completely against ALL interracial unions with Asian Women (who are;Chinese, Korean,Japanese, Vietnamese,Thai etc)and Black Women and White Women. That is quite amazing, especially with the fact that you purposely frequent the interracial forums.
Personally I do not agree with the 'Caste system' in your country. But then again, thats just my personal opinion.

You state that like it's a fact, not a personal opinion. It's your opinion... not a fact. It's insultinig to every other black woman to say that.

"For some reason the dark ones seem to make themselves unavailable and are antisocial. They are not as friendly and warm when a man approaches them. I have learned this from my own observation of on campus for the past year."

Those are just the ones you have encountered up until this point in your life... who knows what types you will meet during the REST of your lifetime. You make some pretty sweeping generalizations here... you should examine your biases.

When we are lying in bed, and he tells me things about the rice fields and his childhood in his homeland I can feel that he is sharing with me a part of him. His father and mother are gone now. It is really hard on him. He speaks about loss so easily, as if hes in a trance. I try to reach him at times, but sometimes its just not enough. I have to hold him really tight before he opens his eyes to see that I am there with him. One time it was so bad he almost looked as if he were going to cry. I know that his heart will never fully heal from the loss of his parents. Its just so hard to see the torture hes going through. I am a good listener, so I listen closely as he tells me about his past. I think it really helps with him talking about it. I think the worst is the fact that the political unrest caused him to flee from his home. He had to leave everyone in his family behind. He didn't get to attend his parents funerals, or even be with them in their last days on this earth. I am hoping that with time, he will not feel ripped apart.
