Im from Boston Massachusetts and currently enrolled at Umass.
Hispanic is not a race but a nacionality,that includes spaniard. Spaniard are consider hispanic beacse the speac spanish (duh!..lol) Hispanic's are people who were born in latin America and spain or are of a hispanic culture decent.
For tose who are wondering what are puerto rican made of? Spanish, african, and Taino (native carrebian indians), are the main ethnic backgrounds of puerto ricans, but that docent mean thats what were made of. Many of us have different backgrounds, some have Italian and in the middle west coast of puerto some have french backgrounds. Also some of us have asian decendence. Puerto rican culture form from Europian, indian and african culture. My name is Isabella Russo-Batlle , my parent were both in Puerto Rico, so their grandparents's. My dad has Italian-spanish and indian backgrounds. My mother has spanish-french and african background. My dad is light dark skin with olive eyes. My mom is light skined with green eyes. I am light skin with olive eyes and my brother is light dark skinned with dark green eyes. I have redish light-brown hair like my mother.

I got an answer for you bro. The reason people go out and buy blue contacts and dye their hair is because they want to look more favorable to whites. They think, subconciously, they will be more accepted by white US society and may improve their chances of getting ahead in business, marriage, etc. This goes for both Hispanics and Asians. I see as many hispanics with green/blue contacts and brown/blondish hair as I see asians with blue/puplish contacts and redish/blond hair. I don't know which looks funnier! As far as skin color goes, lighter skined people usually prefer other lighter skinned people because that is what they are familiar with or predisposed to. Don't ask me why. I know a lot of Hispanics who only like to date lighter skinned hispanics or asians and a lot of asians who only date lighter skinned asians and hispanics. I agree with that other guy a few posts down that all women are good regardless.

Perhaps you consider the term "mestizo/a" derogatory, but it is frequently used by the government as well as the Spanish speaking media. Just like the word "indigena". And they are both inextricably linked. Indias and Mestizas are NOT Latinas and well, Jennifer Lopez is not Mestiza because she's got BLACK in her blood, NOT Indian. I also didn't refer to "blue-green eyed" Latinas only. I think Penelope Cruz is stunning as is Yamila Diaz and they are both brunette. What I do NOT have a preference for is the "indigenous" appearance of many central American and Mexican women. I believe that's what Japanese Male-35 was referring to as well (wide faces, fat noses, and stocky physiques). Indigenous traits. And let me ask you one thing...why is it that mestizas are the first ones to go out and dye their hair blond and get colored contacts? I don't see any blue-eyed Latina buying brown contacts? I wonder why......

I for one am an Asian Male who LOVES Mestizas and darker-skinned Hispanic/Latina women just as much as I love the lighter-skinned ones, and I think that Hispanic and Latin women with darker-colored hair, darker-colored skin, darker-colored eyes, and flatter faces, broader noses, and stockier bodies, are just as beautiful as Hispanic women and Latinas with lighter-colored hair, skin, and eyes and more European-like features. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I think that they are just as beautiful as their lighter-skinned, lighter-eyed, and lighter-haired cousins. So any of you Hispanic/Latina women who are out there reading this, please don't feel bad, there are some Asian Men out there who find you extremely attractive even if you don't meet the "blond-haired, blue-eyed" mold and stereotype and who appreciate all Hispanic and Latin women as being lovely expressions of God's creation, not just those who are considered beautiful according to "White" standards. After all, there are different strokes for different folks out there, and if you really were an "admirer" of Hispanic and Latin beauty than you would appreciate the beauty of ALL Hispanic women and Latin women, not just those who meet the White Hispanic stereotype. So I think that they are all beautiful in their own special way, and certainly their husbands and boyfriends think so too, heh, heh. ;-) Just my own humble opinion, of course.

Thanks for explaining the different terms. Sometimes, I don't know if I'm using the right terms in reference to Latinas. Not all Asian guys go for the light skin Latinas. I like the dark hair, darker skin Latinas too. Blonde hair blue eyes is too much like a White woman. If that were all I wanted, I might as well go for a white woman. Besides the look, one thing I like Latinas because they are soulful and sultry. At least the ones I've meant are very friendly to me.

Hello again Japanese male, 35 and real-latina lover. Just to let you know the term "Mestiza/o" is a loaded and controversial word often used incorrectly by whites to describe Hispanics. "Mestizo/a" means a person of any mixed race, not necessarily Latina/os.
It's a term that conjures up bad connotations among the Hispanic community in the U.S. and is not appreciated when describing us. In Spanish "mestizo/a" has a likeness to the word "Negro" and for some people "nigger." It really depends on who is using the term and under what circumstances.
It is kind of like the feeling Asians get when other people refer to them as "Orientals." The people who use this term either really do not know any better or are trying to insult you. I believe you just don't know any better and are silly -pobrecito!
Anywho, if you like lighter skinned latinas cool - more power to ya. We may look dark, white as snow or somewhere in the middle but we are never 100% white on the inside -hate to be the one to break it to you. But, that's what makes us interesting.
Once you get to know any latina/o you will begin to see that we may look very white (like Cubans) but still resent white people for the same reasons most Asians do. So go ahead and live out your blue and green-eyed Latina fantasies. Who said white men were the only ones allowed to have shallow fetishes? Don’t get me wrong – I think Asian men are cute.

This is to "Andromeda," who I DOUBT is a Latina female (they tend to be more lady like). Latinas from Europe and South America (venezuela, brazil, argentina,) tend to have hair and eye colors of ALL types...there are SOME blonde hair, blue eyed people in Spain, but they are the exception.
Most Asian guys I know who like other races (other than ASian and White) DO NOT like really dark skinned females.
And, my brother's girlfriend is WHITE< and I don't appreciate that "cave woman" comment. Just because white girls have beautiful eyes--be they blue, green, hazel, or brown---doesn't mean YOU Should be so JEALOUS! Get over yourself. Light-skinned latinas are the MOST beautiful.

Women from Venezuela, Argentina, Spain and Portugal ARE true Latinas in one sense. They are all Spanish speakers with that culture. They just tend to be higher class, more educated than the mestizos.
And you're WRONG, most of the other Asian guys I know prefer a lighter-skinned latina with multi-colored eyes, not just dark brown skin and hair.

I have always found Latinas to be the most beautiful of all women, especially the ones who you can tell have Indian blood. I am Japanese-American, and learned to Salsa just to meet them. There is a unique femininity about them also.
I don't think that they are much attracted to us, but knowing how to dance is a big plus.
I was trying to find a Latina. I got a late start, in my forties. I went out with a Puerto Rican woman before I got married, who wanted to marry me almost right away, probably because she was in her forties, and tired of being 'played'.
I liked her, but I kept looking at younger Latinas, which were mostly not available to me. Because I was getting a bit old for the scene, I had decided to just try and meet a good woman to settle down with, when I meet my wife (we were both divorced).
People think that my wife looks Italian, or Greek, or Spanish. I am very happy with her in all respects, and I get along with her children fine. Her husband was a bum, didn't work, screwed around, etc. My wife was in the mode of wanting a good guy, someone to love and take care of her. I guess that's where guys like me come in.

I don't agree with the post that says "Latinas" are women of mestizo descent. The term "Latin" is inextricably linked with the Mediterranean, which is the birthplace of the Latin language. Therefore, the "TRUE" Latinas would be the Mediterranean women (Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal and so forth). The indigenous so-called "Latinas" of indigenous mix should be called Mestizas and NOT Latinas. I am an AM that LOOOOOOVES Latinas, as in Monica Bellucci, and Valeria Mazza. Those are Latinas. I agree with the Japanese Male-35, that the mestizo/indigenous women (like Mexicans and Guatemalans) tend to be short, stocky, with broad faces, fat noses and brown skin. (Not very attractive at all). This is not a racist remark, it is a FACT. It's like stating that Asians have dark hair, it's NOT racist, it's a FACT. For those of you that like mestizas and the like, good for you, but let's NOT confuse the term "Latina" with "Mestiza".

I agree with "Geez". I am a huge fan of dark featured women, especially if they are mixed. I've met women who were half black and half Latin, and they were HOT! Helena Christiansen is half Peruvian (her mother was a native, with dark features, while her father was Danish), and she is also quite beautiful. She has a nice, dark, swarthy complexion (when not covered by all that white powder for fashion shoots, of course).

I do agree that the ones that are practically full Indian tend to not look as good. I think the ones with the "halfie" look tend to be the best looking. The ones in Spain and South America are also the awesome looking. Well, I think that almost all Latinas, Spanish, Italians, etc. are a bit of a mixed breed... I guess that's why they tend to be better looking than a lot of pasty faced, too many freckles, fat anglo-saxon white folks.

I been to South American and there are some of the most beautiful women in the world. Venezuela has the most Miss Universe titles and should tell you about the beauty of the women. I agree the negative stereotype of AMs are really just in the USA. I've been to Asia, Europe, Australia, Russia, South America and feel the women there have an appreciation for AMs. So to my Asian Brothers, start looking outside of the United States and don't limit yourself to just the USA.
