Thank you for clarifying your post. I read a great post by someone here regarding the fact that we (as Latinos) are NOT a race, but a mixture of various races. Which is why I suppose I get the reaction I do when someone hears me speaking Spanish. I supposed you're probably around the Cali area or the Southwest where most of the Latinas are of either Mexican or Central American descent (that's why you see those dark features that you so like :)) However, in my country (Uruguay) blond is the norm so to me that's the normal, typical look. Just goes to show ya, you never can tell. :):) --Rubia/22

I'm sorry that you feel insulted by my remarks. It was not my intention to be stereotypical and most especially racist in describing the physical characteristics of a typical Latina/Hispanic person. I was merely expressing my appreciation of the good qualities of most of the Latin people I have the good fortune of meeting. I'm not assuming that all Latinas have raven black hair and olive/tan/fair skin. It's just that most of the latin men & women I got to meet has those characteristics, that's all. O.k., time for World History 101 here. First of all, this poll should NOT be here. It assumes that Hispanic is some sort of distinct race of people, when in actuality it is not. Spain (and the people from Spain) are Caucasian like their French, Portuguese counterparts. When the Spaniards starting colonizing the "New World" (I used quotes because the Americas was not new to the Indigenous people that inhabited it, only the Europeans) there was of course, a lot of race mixing as is inevitable. You will find that in countries that had strong indigenous cultures (like Incas, Aztecs, etc. -- Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala- Most Central America) the people there are still darker and have indigenous facial traits because of the race mixing. However, in other countries like Cuba, Puerto Rico, (the few native people there were killed off and Africans brought in for Labor) hence, many Cubans and P.R. are either White or Mulatos, mixed w/Blacks). As for part of South America like Argentina and Uruguay, people there tend to be white because they were colonized by Spaniards, British, Germans, Jews, etc. And especially in Uruguay, the native people were basically killed off, they did not get a chance to mix with the European population. So you can see from this brief synopsis that being "Latin" is NOT a race of people. That's why you can find blond Latinos, black Latinos, Asian Latinos and so forth.
I'm glad to hear of an asian guy dating women of Latin descent.
I wasn't sure if that was possible myself since I live in the southeast and such an idea would never be considered. At least that's what I think.
I have been with Latin Women in LA and around the world. I prefer to use Latin, whether they are Hispanic, Italian, they are beautiful. I like how they look, and move. I do agree that some of the feedback is stereotyping them just like they stereotype us. Hey, everyone does it. Most latin women that I have been with say that they had never been with an Asian before, that they never really considered being with an Asian. They realized that once they got to know me that it really opened their eyes. Hey guys, just because the narrowed minded ones treat you badly, do not count out a whole group. Don't be just like the narrow thinkers. Be brave, open your mind, once I started dating latinas, I realized that they have alot of things in common with us. Especially, Mexicans, El Salvadorians, Guatemalans (hope I spelled it right), Nicaraguans etc. They people took just as much shit as us. Remember Laotian guy, the Spaniards made up that song not South Americans. Just like we're all Chinese, they all get call Mexicans. Do some research, especially Cal history, our peoples took similar shit. In the next 20 years or so, Cal is going mostly Latins and Asians, I willing we will see alot of mixing of couples.
Hey Pinoy guy, I'm a blond, blue-eyed Latina. Fully Latina too from BOTH sides (my mother is from Spain and my father is from Uruguay) both of them are also blond -- language I speak at home: Spanish. Music I dance too: Flamenco, Salsa, Merengue, Candombe and Samba. I'm insulted that you would assume that all Latinas have raven black hair and olive skin. It's not only stereotypical, but racist on your part. Shame on you.

I'm sorry about your experiences with the Mexican community, but you'll find that these types of racial remarks are VERY common among Hispanics. In fact, most Hispanics (regardless of where they are from, Cuba, PR, Mexico, whatever) make it a point to distinguish among racial groups. You will find that there are black hispanics, asian hispanics, indian hispanics, white hispanics and so forth, because as has been stated by a couple of people already, being hispanic is an ethnicity, NOT a race. What happens is that because they are such a mixed group of people, they tend to classify their differences. Its very common to hear them refer to Asians as "chinitos" or "chinitas" and blacks as "negro" and so forth. I've heard it with my own ears. And they also have a strict hierarchy within their culture of the "whiter" your ancestry the better. It's a sad, sad statement, but true nonetheless.
There are a lot of qualities of a Latin woman that men of all races fine attractive and appealing. Their strong loyalty to family, their strengh of character, their passion and confidence coupled with the right amount of modesty. They are also very nurturing, giving 100% in a relationship. Physically, who could resist the raven hair, the smooth olive/tanned/fair skin, the smoldering eyes and kissable lips. I am a Pinoy guy and I suppose there is a strong historical and cultural similarities that Filipinos and Latinos share. This pool is so stupid. You guys are guilty of what you keep complaining about: stereotyping a group of people! You can't go around saying "All hispanic women are part Native American" what the hell kind of ignorant statement is that?! Hispanics come from ALL WALKS OF LIFE. They share a similar culture and a similar language BUT they are a heterogenous and a "potpourri" of collective peoples from all over. GET A CLUE!!!
Hispanics in LA are totally racist agasint Asians. As a child growing up, I've always had to endured "ching-chong-chong- jeers from these ignorant hispanics. I've had to endure karate motions and "chino, chinito" teasing. Or when asked what are you Chinese, Japanese, Chinese? Like there are only two countries in Asia. One time while dining in a Chinese restaurant, this Mexican family was eating and the father had his 5 year old son call the waiter to the table. But the stupid kid called the waiter "Hey chinito". Or how about that song that Latinos have made for asians.

Now, I have latino friends, ones that were fortunate to be educated. I asked one of my closest friends where the hell that song came from. He said that its a folk song from Spain. Can you believe that crap? Over 90% of latinos in LA know that song because their parents teach it. I could go on and on about latino discriminating against asians but thats not what this site it about. The sad thing is, I've been discriminated as being Chinese, but I'm Laotion. When I told them, I'm Laotion, they say, Chinese, japanese, same thing. I cant stop laughing when El Salvordians, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans get furious when they are called Mexicans. Well guys, same thing right?

DUH!!! This pool shouldn't even be here because you are assuming that "Hispanic" is a race of peoples. Newsflash: IT'S NOT!! I agree with the post from that Spaniard girl that Hispanics come in ALL races. You get to see blond, blue-eyed ones, black, Asian, Indian, you name it...they're all in the mix. And FYI: Brazilian is NOT Hispanic, they don't even speak Spanish, they speak Portuguese and are of Portuguese decent. By God sheer ignorance going around here! Learn some World History to discover how these different combinations of "Hispanics" came about before talking about what they look like!!

I am an American/Hispanic female. My family is from Spain though I was born and raised in the U.S. and what really got under my skin was all those comments about "our cute Spanish accent!" What the hell is that all about? I don't have an accent at all and neither do most of my Latin friends that were born and raised here. That's like me assuming that every Asian person can't pronounce their "R's" properly like calling "rice" "wice". I mean that's totally stereotypical and unfair and I don't think you guys would like the same treatment in return. And another thing, being Hispanic is NOT a race but an ethnicity. Hispanics can be black, white, Indian, and yes ASIAN! In fact a very good friend of my family is Cuban-Chinese and he speaks Spanish better than I do! Being Hispanic is a culture, NOT a race. Being from Spain, I am white and most people assume that I'm NOT Latina (most assume I'm Greek or Italian). Which is ridiculous because it's very hard to say which person is Latin for the sole reason that there is no "typical" Latin look.
