WHAT YOU SAY

By saying all white people stereotype asians, wouldn't that be a stereotype there, Tiffanie? Some white people definately do, but its not a one way street. It goes both ways, in every culture there will be people who stereotype other cultures. Sadly it happens everywhere, but the best thing to do is stay positive and don't let it get you down :)

Things I am annoyed about.

1. I hate being asked if I am Chinese.

2. If I ask a Caucasian person if they would want to go eat sushi. They sometimes make some rude remarks like "I don't eat fish bait".

3. Hollywood portrayal of asians.

4. Always mis-pronouncing my last names.

5. Whites view Asians as a whole. Most of them don't know the cultural differences from one asian country to another.

6. White superiority complex.

I am not Asian myself, but African American. I attend a ivy league college-prep school that has very low diversity ( being not only race but religion, socio economic background, etc) and often people do not understand or try to other races and/or racial backgrounds. Due to this ignorance many times I have been singled out or had rumors start about me, and other minorites deal with it everyday. I have an Asian friend that goes to my school, who's name is Loretta Lee. Often I hear comments about her being made up various people and/or associates of mine that are racially geared and culturally insensitive. It annoys me that mostly white people do this. They say things like "Yeah, Lee... her father must own a Chineese joint!" or "Lee, do you know karate?" and other ignorant statements. I also think the way the media portrayes Asians is very stereotypical. They are either portrayed as , "wise" "silent" "side kick" or good at martial arts in almost every American source they are in. It makes me sick sometimes.

it's me again whining:

Get used to it, Asian-Americans are taking over this country, it's our manifest destiny. Someone has to tame you savages. It's the Asian Man's Burden.

southern gal,

The closest thing to country music I listen to would be creedance clearwater revival.

I was just giving "whining white guy" a hard time, is all. hehe. In fact, I generally don't like any kind of folk music (ie. country, rap, polka, etc.). Everything else is cool.

Deportations? didn't realize such "over the top" statements could possibly be taken seriously... what I meant to say was, "send their arses to pluto." besser?

LoL.

For myself, it's roughly anything but country music. I've tried, but it just won't work for me...wow, talk about a totally irrelevant topic.
