counter pincher and you have credibility? hahaha

Your efforts to pump korea up as a world sporting power is so laughable.

By the way best of luck to korea when they play the very physical minnows Tonga next March for the rugby world cup qualifiers. Forget about winning I pray they come out alive.
Say your prayers

*LOSER! What is your nationality coward? Too ashamed ay? No one in Corea cares about rugby but they still kicked China and Japan's asses didn't they? Name for me another Asian country which won more gold's during the Olymics or Asian games per capita? No country even comes close, surely not your third world dump.

NYballer
You're right scrub! Gasol is from Spain. Anyway his numbers are even better than Yao's in scoring but you don't hear anything about him. Why?
Gasol plays on a baddddd team.
He's not a 7-5 freak with some skills and not an ASIAN NOVELTY act.
Stojackovic has better scoring numbers but he's not hyped up like Yao.
Another foreigner, Nowitski, he's a much better than Yao and he's not hyped as Yao. Get my drift?
Yao's not even top 20 best players in the league, granted his only a rookie but some Chinese think he is better than Shaq. I chalk that up to Chinese overzealousness, Chinese finally got someone to make them proud after decades of Michael Chang, their only male sports figure embarrassing the hell out of them.
In a way Yao is lucky he's playing in an era where dominating post centers in the NBA are few. No more Kareem, Moses, Parrish, Ewing, Hakeem, Mourning, etc.

NY Baller,
Although Yao Ming probrably deserves to be a marginal Western Conference allstar, other Western Conference centers do have similar if not better numbers.

Michael Olowokandi
PPG 13.6 RPG 9.5 BPG 2.1

Yao Ming
PPG 13.0 RPG 7.9 BPG 2.0

Although by the end of the year Yao's numbers should improve.

Counterpuncher,

Get your facts straight. Pau Gasol comes from spain. The Greek rookie Tskitisvili(sp?) isn't doing anything and certainly doesn't have better numbers than yao ming. He's not gettinga any playing time and is averaging like 3 points a game.

Besides Shaq, what other centers in the Western conference have numbers comparable to Yao Ming?
Answer - None
And for your knowledge, Nowitzki, Duncan, and Garnett are NOT centers. This is evidenced by the fact that their teams list them as FORWARDS. They also play their as forwards.

Before you make a stupid comment, learn something about basketball. Yao Ming is not hype, he's the real deal.

Article on Samoan/Chinese rugby hitman Trevor Leota who is one of the hardest tacklers in the game. One word about this guy, devestating!!!!

Yawn O
You see why you have NOOOO credibility?? I must admit Yao has done better than I expected ( 5 pts per game) but if you REALLY think Yao is better than Shaq, Duncan, Nowiski or Garnet you are crazzzzy! What's Yao averaging? 12, 13 pts per game?
Is that all star numbers?
Yao is mostly hype, if he wasn't the tallest Chinese freak out of China he wouldn't even get all this hype.
Look at that French boy Gasnol he has better numbers, how about that rookie Greek player , he got better numbers but you really don't hear much about these guys because there wasn't much hype surrounding these guys when they came in the NBA.

Why is Yao Ming an impact?

He plays for the NBA. Young people these days are into hip style.

I wish I had a relative playing in the NBA. It can hook me up with girls (fine ones too) for sure.
