WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
I would just like to say, PEOPLE Tiger Woods is as much Asian as any of you. He has said in numerous interviews that he identifies himself more with his Asian side than black.
Furthermore, Hines Ward is Half Korean linbacker the Steelers. He is also half black. Does that make him less Korean just because the media has never acknolegded his Asian roots?
Be proud of all of them.

Ichiro without a doubt has done the most thus far for Asian Americans and Asian athletes in general by becoming the first Asian born baseball player to win an American MVP award.

Dat Nguyen is having a great year. So far (as of game 9), he has the most tackles on the Dallas Cowboys. He started every game so far, avoided any serious injury, and is in healthy shape to finish the season. Also, the Cowboy's defense is among the top 10 in fewest yards allowed per game.
Now, if only the Cowboys can get an offensive game going, specifically getting a decent quarterback, they would be in great shape.

Brazilians adapted it an made their own version of it? So what?? Where did the roots of so called "Brazilan jujitsu " come from ? JAPAN!!!
I bet 99 % of Brazilan jujitsu is same as the orginal form from Japan. Without the orginal fundementals there is no Brazilan jujitsu, matter of fact, there is no such term recognized by the governing martial arts organization. Its simply call "jujitsu."
Gracies are known for marketing for themselves , for their own interests rather than for the sport itself.

EE-CHEE-ROW SUZUKI..
MVP, rookie of the year, gold glove, & silver slugger awards....WowT he Mariners didn't have a leadoff man entering this season, then Ichiro had one of the greatest seasons of any leadoff man in baseball history -- for a team that won as many games (116) in the regular season as any team in history. His 242 hits were the most since 1930: his 36-hit lead over the runner-up (Boone) was the largest gap in history. He won the batting title (.350) and led the league in stolen bases (56), the first player to do that since Jackie Robinson in 1949.
He became the first AL player since 1922 to hit .350 with 50 steals in the same season. He had three 15-game hitting streaks, the first to do that since Cecil Cooper in 1980. He hit safely in 135 games, tying a major-league record. He tied Joe DiMaggio (1939) for the quickest (61 games) to get his first 100 hits in the major leagues. Put it all together -- runs, steals, hits, average, etc. -- only two similar players matched Ichiro's season: Ty Cobb (1911) and George Sisler (1922).
And there was more. Ichiro batted .445 with runners in scoring position. Since the Elias Sports Bureau began tracking that statistic 20 years ago, only three players have ever had a higher such average in one season: George Brett, Tony Gwynn and Paul Molitor. Ichiro won a Gold Glove in right field. He won games with defense and with his arm, which can't be said for all MVP candidates. A veteran scout, who spent 10 days following the Mariners in May, said afterwards, "That team is great and will get better because of one reason: the right fielder. Period."

Yes, its true that US might be the best nation but in a World Cup format, any team can win it all. Its kind of similar to ice hockey several tears ago. You would think that the Canadians would win the Gold but the fact was the hottest goal keeper was Dominic Hasek of the Czeck Republic during the series. Just imagine if red hot Pedro Martinez representing the Dominican Republic pitched the final game of the Medal round against the US, they would have no chance. If Chang-Ho Park was on, the same thing for Korea, If Yakult's Ishii was on and when he is red hot, no one can touch him, and so on. The bottom line is the pitcher. The team with the best picther at that given time wins the CUP or the Medal. For that matter, any nation (US, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Korea, and Japan) can win the CUP.

mazn,
If you study history of martial arts, the gun will win ultimately.
As for non-fire arm combat. You will need to address these distances.
1) Weapons
2) Kicks
3) Punching
4) Grappling
The Asian systems are usually the best if you want to look good while you fight (what's the point to fighting if you don't look good). But it take years of training to reach that level in some of the more traditional kung-fu styles.
If you are still young and only want to invest a year or two. Focus of more modern competitive martial arts. Tawkwondo, American boxing, Tai Boxing, Judo, wrestling.
If you have decades on your hand than take up kung-fu. But I will warn you now it will take at least 5 years before a good master will teach you anything about sparring using the spirit and form of the kung-fu system they teach.

USA RULES.....
The USA would be really good if the All-Stars went to the World Cup....but so would Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, etc.
Some of these other countries would have guys like Pedro Martinez starting for them...so it would be close. You never know in baseball, until there is a real World Series.
