WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
so you don't consider one that is half Black, Asian??? you are either sick or stupid dumbass racists who belong back in where ever you or your parents came from!
Yeah right Andrew, so you consider some either sick or stupid because of one sentence eh? In that case you're either in the 8th grade or really dumb because of your grammer in that sentence. What makes you think I'm sick or a stupid racist if I don't consider him Asian? I don't consider him Asian because barely anyone knows he has Asian blood, I had no idea he had Asian blood untill I read a Sports Illustrated article, he doesn't have an Asian name like Kariya, whose middle name is Tetsuhiko.
We as Asians need exposure, especially in sports and entertainment and as far as i'm concerned (even though he is half black) Tiger Woods is doing an excellent job!
How??? As I mentioned before, most people don't think "ASIAN!" when Tiger Woods is mentioned, that is never mentioned in the media, he is considered as a breakthrough for black people because he is so good in dark, I do not hate or discriminate or have any bad feelings towards blacks btw, I know you're brain-dead head would think otherwise so I had to bring that up. Kariya and Ichiro are connected to their background many times in the media, Ichiro more-so of course. I will mention more about Kariya and the media later on.
Either way, who the hell is Paul Kariya?? ask anyone outside United States...
I live in Canada and Kariya is known by many people, so that proves you wrong.

Whats wrong with tiger, cuz hes half black?
I answered that in the top half. Why do you automatically think that it's because he's black? This isn't like 30 years ago when there was so much hatred towards the blacks, get your head out of your ass.
How can you have an "asian role model" if they arent being seeen as asian to america?
Kariya always was proud of the fact that his father was Japanese, he always mentions it in personal interviews, and he stated the fact that he wanted to go to '98 Nagano games so badly because he was Asian. Kariya was connected to Nagano alot in prior to the '98 Olympics because so many people knew that he was half Asian, infact, I know alot that just considers him Asian, but that's a different story. Hockey broadcasters brought up the fact that he was half Asian to the extreme until everyone knew that he was Asian, I don't remember Woods being mentioned as half Thai by the media much, again, he's been portrayed as a breakthrough for blacks (that's the way I see it, don't know about the rest of you, don't care either for that matter).
Ichiro just an honorable mention? Please he has done more in one year, than kariya has done in his whole career?
Was that a question or statement? If it's a statement I'd disagree, yes, Ichiro was successful, but he doesn't speak to the media, Kariya is always talking to the media, I know there's a language barrier for Ichiro but he could at least have a translator, I have nothing against Ichiro btw. I also feel that Kariya has done alot, he took his team to the 2nd round of the playoffs with only 3 good players on his teams (Selanne and Hebert), the Mariners had a good season but they had Boone, Martinez, Sele, Moyer, Olerud and so on. Oh yeah, Kariya also scored the series clincher in the Ducks only playoffs series win. Kariya had a pretty good international career btw, winning a silver medal in the 94 Olympics, and has a good chance at winning the gold this year.
Kariya='02 gold medalist? Hope so

What is the difference between Tiger Woods and Paul Kariya??
They are both half Asian, except that one is half White and the other is half Black.
so you don't consider one that is half Black, Asian??? you are either sick or stupid dumbass racists who belong back in where ever you or your parents came from!

Let see I think it would have to be some of the Asian American martial artist, et al Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Toshio Mifune, Jacky Chan.
For baseball, I believe that since Masanori Murakami was the first, and has since long been forgotten that he should be recognized. But Mike Lum and Lenn Sakata also trail blazed the way for current day asian americans.
In basketball I would have to say Wat Misaka, who played on the Utah Natl Championship team and in the NBA.
In football it would be Wally Yonemine.
But for Today's world I would have to say Ichiro has shown that you can be Asian and play with the big boys.

Kariya=THE MAN,
Why is Kariya this great asian role model and Tiger is not even asian? Their both half asian. Whats wrong with tiger, cuz hes half black? If your gonna be dumb atleast be consistent. Personally, I believe their both not asian role models. Simply because when anybody sees them on tv, they never think of them as being asian. How can you have an "asian role model" if they arent being seeen as asian to america? If you want a asian role model you got to have one that everybody knows that hes asian. Most people think tiger is black, and kariya is white. How can a white or black guy be an "asian role model"? Ichiro just an honorable mention? Please he has done more in one year, than kariya has done in his whole career? And, everybody knows Ichiro is asian. Theres no disputes about that fact.
