WHAT YOU SAY

China hasn't beaten the Korean national team in 23 tries in soccer since they first met back in the 1970s, which is pretty amazing considering the fact that even Thailand has beaten Korea once, and China is better than them.

Japanese Baseball is superior to any other brand of baseball in Asia. First Korea, then Taiwan would be a distant runner up. Korea might take 2 out of 3 from Japan in Soccer, but Japanese Baseball is way too established in its history to even be compared to any other Asian nation. Its a fact. Look at the players. Nomo, Sasaki, Ichiro, & Ishii, (to name a few) never spent a single day in the minor leagues and are playing above average baseball in the Majors, straight from Japan. Park & Kim had to be fine tuned in the Minors by American coaching. Hee-Seop Choi is the only Korean position player representing Korea and he is in the minors being molded by Americans. The 22 year old seems to be representing all of Korea in hitting. I just don't see Lee coming over here straight from Korea and making an Ichiro-like impact. I would wager that there are at least 10 Japanese position players & 20 pitchers that could come over to the Majors and start on an MLB roster.... and thats being conservative.
I would bet anyone that Hideki Matsui would hit more homers than Hee-Seop Choi or Chin-Feng Chen in their first year in MLB. Its not a racial bias. Its just, (1) I believe Matsui is simply a better hitter and (2) Matsui is already playing in a Major League environment w/ a Tokyo Media (second only to New York), whereas Choi & Chen are in Iowa & LV. The media would eat them up if they move up to the majors and the pressure of representing the entire nations of Korea & Taiwan, as the first position players, would be unbearable. If they can succeed, power to the people. Meanwhile props to Nomo & Ichiro for already succeding in representing Japanese Baseball. In the end, its just a game, but facts remain facts.

Divided We Fall,
Very True and well said!!! Your right if you live in the good of U.S of A. Many people here can't even tell what you really are. To them, you just asain. Most of them would just assume all asain are chinese. So if any asain countries succeeds in sports, it just make you [asains] look better.
Many people get the impression that asains suck in sports. It is now the time to prove them wrong!!! So wish us well. lol

Texas is getting some of the best Asian athletes:
Dat Nguyen, Wang Zhi Zhi, and now Yao Ming.
Also outside of Texas, keep an eye out for University of Hawaii's awesome quarterback Timmy Chang!

Top Asian Athletes have to be the whole South Corean National soccer team. I think they did more to enhance the image of Asia than any other athlete or team before them. World Cup is watched by more people around the world than any other events.

Umm... does anybody know that Philippines:
1. Rafael Nepumuceno - Guiness Book Record holder as the winningest Bowler of all time?
2. The first Asian Grand Master in Chess International Tournament is a Filipino? On top of that, 2 other Filipino just recently won as Grand Masters?
3. That the Best Asian Male Pool Player is a Filipino, Efren Bata Jr.
4. That Lydia de Vega is the Asia's Sprint Queen whose record hasn't been erased in asia?
5. Talking about "Macho" sports... Philippines is the only Asian Country who garnered more International Winners in Asia.
These ones I mentioned are Filipino citizens and not Filipino-Americans. The Philippines have there own share too of fame and integrity in different fields. Stop your bigotry and learn to see that your neigboring country has done better than you too. You're so apt on putting down other races but have you yourself contributed pride to your country?
Okay, speaking of Asian-Americans..
The Filipinos I've heard so far are better singers, Beauty Titlists, Best DJ's, etc.
You can be proud without putting and belittling other races, can't you?

Who cares? The tallest Chinese are taller than the tallest Koreans. Frankly, who gives a crap if Chinese are taller?
China had one of the tallest teams in this year's World Cup, and Korea an average sized team. You didn't see Korea's ass getting kicked around though did you? The Japanese team is on the lower end in terms of height but they struck real fear into the hearts of the best teams.
All this talk about height is strangely obsessive and it seems like some people have some unresolved issues. So Yao Ming is 7'5 and Wang is 7'1, Koreans should be happy that they have (I'll admit) the finest crop of athletes East Asia has to offer. ANd if that isn't enough, yikes.

South Korea gets to the semifinals in the World Cup...go Korea!
Yao Ming gets selected first in the NBA...go China!
Ichiro kicks butt after many whites say he won't...go Japan!
Do you think other Americans even distinguish among us? I've been called Jap, Gook, Nip, Chink, and Korean dog-eater, at various stages in my life. If anyone Asian succeeds, we all succeed. If anyone fails, we all fail. Get the picture!
