I'm a Corean-American girl adopted by caucasian parents and living in SoCal. Its totally confusing reading all of these asian stereotypes, cause I've never been presented with it growing up in a mainly white pre-dominant neighborhood...

I've never been in a relationship with a guy who was Japanese, but for the most part, I think they're intelligent, sweet guys. I think they're attractive as well. I'm always getting mistaken for being either half Japanese, half Corean - so I seem to attract them the most. But really, as far as Corean women who value their appearances goes, isn't that true for any woman? We all want to look good, either for ourselves or for those we're interested in. So I think you have the wrong impression "Japanese American male"

i think korean gals and japanese guys have a lot in common, and, deep down, they are very much attracted to each other (although they don't always admit it). unfortunately the similarity also breeds high expectation and, sometimes, competitiveness and often makes relationships or friendships difficult.

On the whole, though, i think the japanese-korean match is a good one.

it seems that a tiny minority of people here want to obscure the conversation by diverting our attention to politics and verbal war, but i think (hope) most of us know better.

As certain events (such as the textbook atrocities) trigger our past we need to be aware of each other's unique cultures. However, the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese people have always been close, and need eachother's support.

I don't think you should let that stop you. Why should it, you are Japanese American, you had nothing to do with any atrocities committed by Japanese soliders. As long as you understand why most Coreans feel this way and is sensitive toward this issue, you shouldn't encounter any animosity.
Most younger generation of Coreans don't hold any grudges regarding this issue.

I am a Japanese American and have always only been attracted to Korean girls. Thing is that I know there is bad blood between our 2 ethnic groups. I know it is difficult for a Korean girl to be with a Japanese guy. In their minds there will always come up issues like the enslavement of Korean women by the Japanese soldiers for rape and sex purposes. It is hard, but I still love beautiful Korean gals.

Like it or not, we need to drop that nationalistic bullshit about "always kicking the Japanese' asses". The fact is that we DID get our asses beat by the Japanese, and that we got beat b/c we were too busy arguing amonst ourselves. If we don't reconize this and fix it, it could happen again. We are a strong, aggressive and proud people, but we need to recognize our weaknesses to get stronger. Look what is happening to Japan -- their old-school paternalistic society is falling apart at the seam b/c they could never really modernize their metalities, despite their material modernization.

When is the last time you cracked opened a book on Asian history?? Japan tried to invade Korea twice during the 1500's and got their butts kicks. Heard of the "turtle ship?" It is the first iron clad ship in history, 300 years before the Americans build their first one.
It wasn't until the 1900's when Japan, the first Asian country to modernize with western weapons, they succeeded. Besides Japan has twice as many people than Korea. I do agree with your comment on Korean people's argumentative nature. We are hot blooded people, maybe too much kimchi.
I hope the relations improve among the two countries, afterall, we like it or not we are probably most close in our cultures. If the English and French can get along with all their problems throughout history why can't we.
