WHAT YOU SAY

[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
The College Student,

Since you are a college student and have taken science courses you should know that one of the first rules in any scientific discipline is that correlation does not equal causation. The primary reason people gets AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases is because of ignorance and/or failure to practice safe sex, not because they are not circumcised. How do you explain the fact that millions of gay men in America (most of which are Caucasian and thus circumcised) have AIDS? This seems to contradict everything you're saying.

You use Africa as your test sample, yet I'm telling you Africa is a third-world continent with poor education, poor health care and lack of government funding/research into STDs and AIDS. It's irrelevant that millions of African men are circumcised. They could all be circumcised and you would still see this epidemic.

My whole point actually is not that circumcision should be banned. On the contrary. People should be allowed to choose to have themselves circumcised, when they are adults, not babies. I'm not against circumcision in general, just neonatal circumcision.

If you're going to use god as the answer of hating to be circumcised. Guess again. Even Jesus got circumcised.
If you still don't believe me, ask any Urologist or Hygiene specialist that circumcision does help maintain a better hygiene, therefore, reducing the risk diseases.

There's still the pee hole, but when one urinates, it is easier for the liquid that he contracted from his partner to be washed away. On the other hand, when one is not circumcised, the liquid that he contracted from his partner will remain dorment. The faster one washes away that liquid contracted from his partner, the lesser risk he is.

Whether you are circumcised or not, it is hard to deny though the importance of using a condom.

I am not trying to insult anyone nor try to convince anyone to be circumcised, but it is my honest opinion based on what doctors and biology professors have told me.

This is, however, the circumcision forum.

Peace....

The College Student,

Like it makes sense to cut off a perfectly healthy part of your body to protect yourself from HIV and AIDS. So your theory is to make the penis as callous as the bottom of your feet so that no viruses can penetrate? So having a callous unresponsive stick for a penis instead of a sexual organ is your idea of protection. Some of us don't engage in high risk sexual behavior so getting circumcised to protect ourselves is foolish. Being circumcised doesn't protect you from getting HIV. Look at Gay American white men who have died from AIDS. I bet most of them were circumcised. Remember there is still the pee hole in the circumcised penis for the HIV virus to enter.
Hate Being Circumcised    Friday, August 30, 2002 at 07:15:09 (PDT)
Oh please. Africans are dying of AIDS because their society, in general, is very ignorant about the virus, how it's contracted, prevented, etc. And there is not much use of condoms and abstinence being practiced. Don't try to make the connection between an ages old barbaric ritual with no place in modern, civilized society and an epidemic that can easily be prevented if people practiced safe sex, or better yet monogamy or abstinence.

The only reason circumcision has been around in countries that still routinely practice it for non-religious reasons, i.e. the U.S. is because it has become a cultural norm, a fashion if you will. It's been socially accepted and many Americans prefer it. But there is not much evidence to show that circumcision itself prevents diseases and makes one healthier. That's absurd.

Everyone,

It is not a lie that uncircumcised males are more of a risk. Believe what you want but it is fact. Most African males are uncircumcised. Those tribes that do rituals are a few. I studied this in Anthropology. Even my professor who is a native of Africa agrees.

African and African-American males are four times more likely to contract Aids than Whites and Asians. Do you see a correlation?

CdnMark:

Hmm, so I guess the only left to do is to get your penis enlarged, cuz after all, that's what women want. Then you can do your tummy tuck, your facelift, you might convince your g/f to get a boob job, inject some fat into her lips, maybe some liposuction. If she's asian she'll have to get her eyelids sliced. Did I miss anything?

Dumbass.

AC Dropout,

"If I was circumcised, my penis might not look as small. But I have many other attributes. But no, it's not healthier or not healthier."

Now what is wrong with you? You're pathetic.
There are kids here. Let's have some class!    Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at 13:08:28 (PDT)
Women in North America prefer a circumcised penis. There is no getting around this fact. It's what they are used to. It is both an aesthetic and hygiene issue. I was not circumcised at birth, rather at the age of 26. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a definite loss in sensation because the foreskin is rich in nerve endings. But it is what women want.
