WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Hafti,
Regarding Muong (Vietnamese) or Hmong (English) people.
Since you ask, I should respond accordingly. Please correct me if I am wrong, I thought you said that your Dad is mixed Viet and Muong in your previous post? Your Dad should know more than me about the Muong (Hmong) people.
Anyway, from what I learn and research for myself, Hmong is mountainous people –people live in the mountain- They live in group as tribes. Where did they come from originally? China. They are scattered in mountains border of Laos, Vietnam and China. The majority of the Hmong people live in the mountains of Laos. That is why Hmong people are considered as ethnic minority people of Laos not Vietnam. During the Vietnam War, the Hmong associated with the Americans to fight the North Vietnamese. After the war, many came to the U.S as refugees like the South Vietnamese.
Let make it clear about this. You said that the Hmong and Vietnamese should be related. My answer is NO WAY. I say the Vietnamese and the Chinese are much more historical, cultural related compared to the Hmong. In ancient times, the only people the Vietnamese associated with are the Hans (Chinese) NOT the people on the mountains! Not to mention the mentality of the Vietnamese as a civilized people like the Chinese was looking down on tribal people who live in huts, tents, cages, etc…
Kingdom of Vietnam was found more than 4,000 years ago (in 2874 BC to be exact and King Hung Vuong formed the first Dynasty). The Vietnamese live in a Kingdom, which has King rule (not Chief rule) and army to protect its people. In other words, the ancient Vietnamese had a highly organized civilized society.
Take care.
FYI,
Thanks for the info. I don’t even know Chu Van An is a Han descent. A very good example to support my sayings in one of my previous posts. Many Chinese scholars were well treated in Kingdom of Vietnam.
Chu Van An (a well-known scholar in 13th century) are currently named for many in famous high schools in Hanoi and Saigon, Vietnam.

Hafti:
Do you have any source that points to the genetic differences between the Muong, chinese, and Vietnamese(kinh)? I would like to determine what type of Chinese is the research based on to diferentiate between the Muong. In addition, could you provide me a source of 30% of Vietnamese have sinodontoid?
Most sites that I ran into stated that the Yueh races are negrito type (Melanesian, Autranesian, Malay-polynesian and Dravidian), do any of you have a link that points that the Yueh are light-skined? Are they a Mongoloid race?
Please post the sites that are scientific base, do not provide those travel or government guides. This give me a chance to expand my understanding.
Thanks for your effort.

To, FYI;
Chu Van An, Chu is an abvious chinese name.
Like i said, through logic, the base ethnic at that time must have been viet (one of the 100 yuehs). Because if the people who moved in from 0 BC/AD to 200 AD, were ALL han (assuming that it was all migration, and not considering births like the traveller did), then the population of the original viets were 70 thousand to the new population of 750 thousand. A 680 thousand chinese, if so then how did the vietnamese language survive and how did the loyalty to the kin? Almost in all areas where there is such outnumbering, loyalty to your people is ensured. The Yuehs in Fukien and such became Han by now due to outnumber. From that simple logic, the base population must have been viet.
And due to the dna tests, it should have been also...

To, passerby;
If your such a genius then why didn't you add in other factors rather then skin color? Even though skin color is a determined feature, it is also easily mutated over time, especially to a group of people who has roamed asia so long ago.
Sinodonty and Sundadonty are two different types of type. Sinodonty mutated/evolved from the original Sundadonty. Southern chinese have sundadonty A LOT due to Vietnam's territory long ago (which included Guangdong and most of SE China).
Sinodonty evolved 16 thousand years ago, and from my personal experience i see that it's domanint over sundadonty. There will always be a break point somewhere.
Like i said, if you go far enough everyone will be related. No one is denying the relation, but the only irritating thing is that chinese people/gov't always claim to be the ancestor just because that piece of land is now theirs, never even considering that just a few years ago it was ours. We could/do share the same ancestors, but when they migrated they weren't viets or chinese, but just a group of people who developed their own sense of identity. The chinese are always trying to take the identity away.
And my posts answers some of these questions...

Hafti you keep mentioning the toe thing. I have that same trait and I'm Northern Chinese. So now I 'm must be Muong huh? And secondly, what the hell is Muong? Do you mean the Hmong? Or are they a people realted to Thais or Khmers?
Just stop analyzing teeth and toes. That won't get you anywhere soon.
