Too many Asians wear the same style. I would like to see some originality. I was at the Asian club and I couldn't tell the difference between any of those people. Also on the streets, they dress the same and do their hair the same, color it the same.......ugh.....

Asians (men/women) should choose what they feel good in not because magazines like GQ or Jane suggests. But if you are going to wear what you feel good in. at least accessorize and DON"T wear out-dated stlyes. If you want look like a F.O.B.

OKay... do not stuff your bras if you're going to wear a tight shirt.
Do not wear tight pants if you have a tiny flat butt. Do not put shine on your face because you will look bloated.

People I know often compliment on the way I dress. Here are my secrets.
- Solid colors. Surprisingly I have virtually no black in my wardrobe. If you are petite, black will only diminish your size more.
I've discovered that light purple compliments our Asian skin tone. Dark purple will luminate those with lighter skin tones.Deep blue pants are very flattering.
- Skirts either extra long or extremely short because that will create the illusion of long legs.
- Short shirts, 3/4 sleeves will elongate the lowerbody and arms. If you are a full size woman then a dark colored short shirt will be necessary.
- light colored capris will round the figure, dark colored capris will elongate the legs.
*no I don't spend THAT much time on clothes and certainly not more money.=) **
girl who knows clothes
Many Asian women make wonderful use of a stark look in clothing, which makes them appear even more striking. --Pablo
5 1/2 heels are WAAAAAY too high! It's bad for you in the long run because it can lead to foot and back problems, so try and keep it around 3'' if you can.
Does anyone think that 5 1/2 inch heels are too high? I wear em. --sherekan2006@yahoo.com
I don't want to sound conceited or vain or anything. But I look good in everything I wear. I am a natural beauty! --Asian Female, 18
I'm a very happy asian girl content with my own style. I often set the trend at work and usually within my circle of friends. My style couldn't be defined because I go with whatever I feel most happiest in =) and usually everybody else follows. --DW's Spoiled Princess
I think asian girls look good in every thing it all depends on the stlye and what color you like. The skys the limit. and what about the half asian girls like black and asian , white and asian mexian and asian etc.... asian and half asian can wear the same thing. its how you see yourself in the outfit not what others think. keep it real asian pinay girl yoko. filpino pride --yoko
I think generally that Asian women are WAY TOO look concious. Korean and Taiwanese are the worst I have found..
I buy what I like and what I can find in the shops around town. Too bad if the nicest clothes have those annoying, ubiquitous logos! It's not my fault. --Malaysian-Chinese, 19
Asian girls with light skin look very pure in all-white colors, and also fire engine red, pink, yellows, and black....darker skin tones look good in beige, blue, green, black, peach.
I do not agree with the person who said that asians look the best in all black because their hair is black, or because their eyebrows are black even if their hair is dyed.....black is just a universal color, could look good on anyone of any race, but it really depends on the skin tones and their "look"....it's an understatement to say that one color looks good on one race because they do not all look the same. --Missknowitall....
It's in the way a woman walks that completes her fashion..
I really don't think one is able to classify asian women into one group. One must take into consideration the vast differences in appearance of Japanese women, Chinese women, etc., etc. Also one must factor in age, height, weight, skin tone, hair, etc. as you would for any woman of any race. I think the Japanese culture, for example, is much farther along in their acceptance and consiousness in fashion. The Chinese, however, hold on much stronger to their fashion beliefs and traditions (although there are exceptions). In any case, one should think not of their race when deciding on what piece of clothing to buy. One should focus on personal taste and the occassion at hand. --Amanda Bailey/ 19 y.o. difficult to find shoes or clothes in petite. --roc-san
Asians are often over dressed for the occasion. Which is not very flattering when you are at a picnic, please don't come in heels!
Some Asian women have such beautful bodies, perfect skin, and excellent proportions...their best fashion is no fashion...
Look at what white people wear t-shirts that say"I'm with stupid" worn ot shoes and makeup from Bozo the Clown...
I am quite interested by Chi-Am female's comment about wearing sport socks, heavy coloured socks and the like when wearing formal clothing. It is tragic that we cannot appreciate vitality and minute differences in style. Surely women of society only rebel against the norm black hose, black flats, beige hose, because they feel like it. Not all women wear Armani black continually or DKNY white to emphasise much-needed skills in colour-coordination. Let a little tolerance and colour into your life. If all women cared what everyone around her thought fashion simply would not exist. --Danae Chinese/Australian
"Suburban asian women - under no cirucumstances are sport socks, heavy colored socks, white socks appropriate when wearing formal clothing. please remember that your shoes and hose should coordinate with your outfit. [Flattering color] Black is the obvious choice but jewel tones are also flattering for a change of pace." [Chi-Am female, 42-47]
"african american did you forget us Why don't you have a column for African Americans. rather racist dont you think?"
Most Common Fashion Faux Pas of Asian American Women
"Dressing in either all black and white, which seems to be the "generic" AA look lately, or dressing really gawdy with overly bright colors, accessories, etc.."
"Enough with the logos! Real taste is in the cut, fabric, design...not in cheaply splashing the latest trendy logo all over-- shoes, bags, blouses, hats, scarves, ad nauseum..."
"sometimes asian-american females don't show much originality in their clubbing attire but just try to show more skin."
"A look is only as good as your comfort level in it. If it doesn't make you feel good, don't wear it, no matter how good other people say it looks."
"There's nothing more unflattering than an older Asian lady in a pink dress. That goes double for women who are a bit heavy."
"Wrong cuts -- Too often times I see extremely skinny Asian women wearing clothes that are way too large for their bodies. I see the opposite with more voluptuous Asian women."
"Resist the temptation to overdress by buying casual clothes and dressing them with great accessories. That's more impressive than stuffing yourself into the wrong clothes in expensive brands."
"avoid orange and big prints like the plague!"
"the huge shoes on tiny women -- small is beautiful -- don't try to be what you're not!"
"pay attention to how the clothes drape on you, not so much on what it costs. petite women must stay away from fat rich fabrics."
General Comments on Asian Women & Fashion
"asian american women are seen in many circles as fashion trendsetters. i think it's wonderful that we can discuss topics like fashion instead of always dwelling on the negatives!"
"what does this poll got to do with the relevence of asian american life?"
"allow me to say three words to ladies wanting to look stylish: attitude attitude attitude. by that i mean less is more in all matters of style."
"Asian women are the prettiest!!"
Colors that Flatter Asian Women
"Black is chic, urban, and sleek. It is never inappropriate. But I also think it's wrong for Asian American women to think they have to "prove" themselves (or even "exoticize" themselves) to an American audience...I often think more warm shades, like brown and orange, could help highlight an Asian woman's assured sense of calm and confidence."
"Black -- it compliments their natural hair colour. even if their hair is dyed (n' even if they wear coloured contacts), their eyebrows n' lashes are black."
"Red -- I agree that black is more versatile. But we shouldn't become boring about it. Red is another strong color that works well and can be paired with black."
"Black -- It goes with everything, is always elegant and matches the hair perfectly.
Fashion Brands that Flatter Asian Women
"It's a more than a little irritating to ask this question on your poll--- every individual female body is unique! What I wear may flatter you, maybe not."
"DKNY -- the styling is appropriate for urban professional women which most asians are these days."
"Bebe -- Those blouses, shirts, skirts and pants look tres sexy on an Asian girl."
