These results are really interesting, particularly the top two scores on the first question--that hapas are seen as both more attractive than pure asians AND they are off-putting b/c they appear to be more white. And then what about calling up a difference between "Asian Americans" and "hapas." Can hapas be "Asian American"? And who are the people (particularly the mixed race folks) who are answering this poll--people who clearly feel comfortable coming to a dedicated Asian American site will, likely and predominately, state that they are most comfortable with Asians. Color me intrigued

Nice Meetin Ya. It's cool to know you are also partly Malaysian.My background? Ummm, my mom's from Malacca and she's a Baba Nyonya ( Chinese with alittle Malay ) and my dad's an Aussie with Russian descent. Actually, he has Jewish, Polish, Georgian , Ukrainian and alittle Chinese blood.

I often see a mixed half asian/half white girl looking UNattractive. Maybe it's just that they're your type. Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. Anyways out of the ten or so hapa girls I know only one is hot... (just wanted to present a counterpoint to those guys who think hapa girls are all that)

It's been awhile I haven't posted. Ever since the 9/11 incident, I have to put in lots of overtime because our company has been pushing us to speed up on the aircraft design. I'm so sorry that I never had a chance to write. So how you're doing in school? Finish Form Six yet or you've just become a degreed historian now....lol.

I speak Hakka, Cantonese, mandarin, bahasa malaysia, and used to speak Kazakhs but don't remember anynow.
I've never heard of chinese using "Ma Yow" referring to a person's skin color, but chinese dialects vary from one to another. My dad knows how to sing "Hakka
Saanh Goh", that means hakka mountainous
song. My dad told me the hakka male sings at the high mountain to impress females.

I only know a little bit about hakka culture unfortunately. But i have been to hakka concerts.
