WHAT YOU SAY

[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Dean Cain is neither a filipino happa, nor is he a chinese happa, he is one forth japanese, his father was part white-japanese and his mother was white, so yeah, i guess he's a happa but vaguely, but he himself has said he doesn't consder himself asian, although he holds much respect for the culture and race of which a branch of his ancestry descends from.
You wouldn't consider someone who was 1/4th white as asian or hapa, so likewise, you wouldn't consider him who is 1/4th white as an asian or hapa.

Hi Malaysian-Eurasian Gal18,
I'm alright thank you! How are you? What classes are you studying at college?

D/K/H Kampung bro and Alexa,
what races are you? Thanks for the information on Naomi Campbell...I have heard both of the things you have told me...I read that Naomi was told by her mother she has Chinese blood, but wasn't told much about her father because he does not feature in her life. That's why it surprised me she wanted to get in touch with her Chinese side, :-). Alexa, I heard there was quite a big chinese community in Jamaica too.

Fil Chick7,
I read Dean Cain was 1/4 Japanese,

Dee    Tuesday, February 05, 2002 at 10:34:18 (PST)

Charmaine,
"Jungle of Hope", I've never heard if it. So you're reading this book for your
SPM exam. If I remember correctly, SPM stands for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia where you take it to get in Form 6, correct? So you must be around 18 y.o too....lol. I took UPSR before. I love Melaka. Everytime I visit my uncle in Port Dickson, Seremban, my uncle takes me to Melaka's beach (don't remeber which beach)to enjoy the nice blue water. I miss it so much. You know where I want to go Christmas Island in south of Singapore. It's a small island with bunch of red crabs running around.

Cheong Sam makes any ladies look hot especially a hapa like ME Gal18. I'm sure when you put that on you would make
Jay go nuts. You better reserve a spot for me on your date list for Valentine's.....=P. Just j/k, probably your boyfriend will kill me. OK, good luck on your exam.

Alexa: Ya know where I could find more information on her father? A huge p
number of the Chinese in Jamaica are Hakka, so I was just wondering offhand ...

Fil Chick7:

This has been addressed before in this forum--you need to read earlier posts. Dean Cain is ¼ Japanese and 3/4 Caucasian. His dad was ½ Japanese, ½ Caucasian and his paternal Grandmother was Full blooded Japanese.

Lori Trespicio of MTV's The Real World, Back to New York was ½ Irish-American (her mom) and ¼ Filipina and ¼ Italian (Her Father.)

Anyhoo, let's just appreciate the individual and quite figuring how much of what we all are.

Jay which hapa celebrities do you have a crush on?
purpleblue    Saturday, February 02, 2002 at 21:28:23 (PST)
Is Dean Cain hapa Filipino or hapa Chinese?
Fil Chick7    Saturday, February 02, 2002 at 19:39:49 (PST)
Dee & M-E Gal18,
Naomi's father is half Chinese-half Black. Her mother Valerie is Black Jamaican. Naomi's grandmother (on her father's side) is a Chinese woman born in Jamaica(they have quite a Chinese community there!)who apparently goes by the name of Pearline Ming (please correct me if I'm wrong). You are right about her father not being part of her life...
Anyway, hope that helped a bit:)

Young: Went to a boarding high school. I thought of staying in SF, but I was living with my grandma then, she had just turned 86. We both agreed she was getting too old to supervise me and put pressure on me to do stuff like come home instead of staying out all night, study instead of watching TV. So instead I went somewhere they'd kick my ass to study hard. Worked pretty well.

Right now I'm in Hong Kong. Not many mixed-race kids among the int'l students. Being in an Asian country really screws with their self image, a lot of them here came from the US thinking they were really Asian cuz all their crew back home are Asian-Americans, but then land here and realise they can barely communicate with people. Wish I could help them out but all of them hang out exclusively among the other int'l students, hang out in the tourist areas all the time, never really get to see them.

Hi Dee,
Thanks for the Information.I heard about her being partly Chinese in another poll I think. I'm doing fine. How about you? Everything's good? I'm going to college and classes start on Monday. So, how about you? How's school? Talk to ya later :p
Malaysian-Eurasian Gal18    Friday, February 01, 2002 at 19:40:14 (PST)
To dee

Actually Naomi Campbell is only one eigth chinese her grandmother was half. So i think its quite ridiculous to say that she is jamaican/chinese. Yes it is true that she is or has adopted a chinese baby to get more in touch with her oriental side lol.

To baby polar bear,

im a hapa i never bring up unless asked, that im a hapa, i am actually more biast and influenced for my asian side. It sounds to me like your feeling a bit jealous, but you shouldnt.
