ME Gal 18
when you finally get yourself a cheongsam, let me know because I will get me a Mao Suit so I can match up with your cheongsam....=P. Don't have a b/f or you just don't want one....big difference with not having and wanting.

Charmaine,
If I remember correctly the name Melaka, it is a form of tree. When ME Gal was 17, she corrected me on where longtime ago this prince was trying to run away from his enemy and a "San Kancil" came out of nowhere and led him to this place filled with "Pokok Melaka". Then the rest is history. I really miss Melaka and Pulau Tioman. I'm not sure if my uncle to me to Tanjung Bidara, but this beach he took me was quite far away from
the visitor resort area. Check out this website for more info on X-mas Island. There are plenty of eurasians.

Another hapa here,

I have a question: I'm getting married next year, and I would like to wear my mother's cheongsam for part of the evening. She is 100% Chinese (ABC anyways) and my father is white. Is it OK for me to wear a cheongsam, since I'm a hapa???

About me:

I was born in Hawaii and lived there until I was 10, when we moved to the mainland. The culture I was exposed to in HI was AA, but in the mainland it was more "white bread".

I looked just like my mother until I was 5, and I started to look more caucasian when I was 9. Most people don't think I look Asian now. (I don't mean to start a debate about how "Asian" I am, so please, no flaming). My last name is Euro, and my married name will also be Euro.

Again, what would you think if I wore my mother's cheongsam for part of my wedding. I would appreciate you honest opinions, just please don't insult me.

To Dee,
So, you are kind of busy recently? Yeah, I have 6 assignments to finish although it's Chinese New Year and I'm suppose to be enjoying myself lol.

My son is 3/4 white and 1/4 Japanese. He has blond hair and blue eyes. I consider him white because he looks white, although I certainly make sure he knows of his Japanese heritage. Putting aside cultural upbringing and how you may "feel" inside about your race identify, your race boils down to what you look like to the outside world- but what you look like to the outside world is pretty much superficial and doesn't really mean anything. I tell my son what matters is that he is kind and a good, decent person.

Malaysian-Eurasian Gal18,
I've had a lot of essays recently! how are you finding work? I'm studying English Lit, Psychology and Drama.

Everyone doing something for Chinese new year?

On the Dean Cain topic...everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but I think Asianess has a lot to do with your upbringing and own experiences. I know that I am thought of as Asian not mixed, in the white environment I live. In my opinion how Asia or white Dean Cain is depends on how he sees himself and how others see him- and his race doesn't define him as a person.
