Vicky,
Why is it a burden to be Asian? Since when is this a white society? I'm a teenage happa and I have never felt the way your children feel. Your family must have some major issues or something. Probably your children had problems growing up or something, maybe with school, and blamed it on being Asian. I look more Asian, and I am still on the soccer team at my school, I have a lot of boyfriends and I have a group at my skool who I have a blast with. Bascially I am a normal teenage girl who happens to have a happa heritage. Tell your kids to go to a counselor.

Hi everybody. I'm sure I was sorely missed during my hiatus. I imagine it wasn't as interesting around here without Pure Asian to kick around. I see there are a lot of new people commenting on this forum. Good to see the old standards like Jay, Dee and Young are still around. Anyway, I was busy getting married to another pure Asian- hey, at least some of us are trying to keep our race pure.

Some little snot on posted on this website that the amer-asians on the korean website looked really asian and unattractive. I am not asian, but I went to the site out of curiousity. T Some looked Asian, some looked half, some looked white and some looked Hispanic, Mexican.
And, most of the people were not unattractive - some were but it's all a matter of taste.
Whoever she is she is a first class idiot, but I'm sure she's a kid, so I won't blast her completely.

KDS KA,
Thanks for your input. The European boy definitely sounds very 'Asian'. However, I think race has a lot to do with how others perceive you and if someone saw him down the street he would be white, whereas Asians would be coloured. It's a interesting point though...I guess he'd be European and Asian. Like in the UK, you're British, but you're also Asian.

KDS KA,
There a white famous author of a similar situation, Pearl Buck. Lily white and more chinese than most AA stateside.
I've also met a Black Pastor who was in China for 12 years and had 3 kids with his wife over there. When they came back I met the kids and I was so strange to see 3 black faces with perfect mandarin coming out. They too were more chinese than many AA I knew at that time.

hapa triathlete,
That would be so cool to wear a cheongsam on your wedding day. Great idea.I think it's important to do what you want to do, regardless of what people think of you. Anyways, wish you the best !!

to Hapa triathlete---
I say wear the cheongsam. it's as much a part of your heritage as it is part of someone who is 100% chinese. there's no prerequisite for wearing whatever you want at your own wedding.
congratulations on your wedding and best of luck to you.

". . . but I think Asianess has a lot to do with your upbringing and own experiences. . . ."
--Dee
Well that's certainly true. There is an actual case of a white, European boy who for one reason or another became orphaned while in China when his original parents died there. A Chinese family "adopted" him and took him into their family. By the time he was an adult, he was very much Chinese in any way that really mattered. He spoke perfect Chinese, behaved Chinese, thought Chinese, etc. So what do we call him? He would be more Asian than White European and certainly more Asian than most AA people, despite the race.
