I am a Hapa who just found this website by chance & think its so crazy that there are so many hapa's out there. I know a very few amount, and before comming to Ohio State University, did not know any. My 2 cents on things is that I feel most hapa's look more asian than white, if they are mixed like that. Asians mixed w/ black are predominantely black, but carry on asian facial features usually.

I disagree w/ the whole east coast hapas identifyin more w/ whites. I am from the midwest, and even though my area of upbringing was almost completely white, I still felt more comfortable w/ the few random asians around me.
Oh & by the way, I'm half korean half german ^_^

I'm not too familiar w/ California's geography so I looked up Westminister, CA. If I'm not mistaken it seems to be in an area that should be fairly multiethnic/multicultural since it's just within the vicinity of/is part of LA? If that's the case, there shouldn't be any reason for you to not tell people that you're part Asian.
To tell you the truth, my Chinese mother has also told me that I might consider holding off on revealing that I'm part Asian since I moved to Texas, for studies. Good thing it went through one ear and out the other.

[On a sad note, I am more attracted to asian women than white women and i don't get the time of day from asian women. They always tell me that they're not into whiteboys. It's just too sad that i looked too white and not asian enough to date them.]

What are the major ethnic groups in your area? Where I'm orig. from, Asians make almost 60% of the population. Asian girls were pretty much a dime a dozen. If they think you look too White, forget them and find yourself a hapa hotty!
Afterall, many people do find hapa women to be the most attractive in the entire world. Not to mention, you'd probably have a lot more in common with a hapa than an Asian girl, unless you're one of those Asian-wannabe type hapas.

BTW- are you fluent in Vietnamese?
Let me guess, the majority of these girls who think you look too White for them are Vietnamese? Alot of Viets I've met have been pretty cliquish.
Heh, I've never had any problems attracting Asian girls, even though most say I look more White than Asian.
Some of these girls who say I look more White than Asian coincidentally are also the ones who turn out to have the hots for me.

You think Aroostook County is bad...Madawaska, Fort Kent and Allagash...come down here to Georgia to see what racism is like...have you ever been to Forsyth County, West Point, Georgia...if you haven't you do not know what real racism is. I have been to Aroostook...folks there are really ignorant...but how many of you have been lynched in Aroostook County, Maine? I can name at least ten people who have been lynched in Forsyth County until the 1980s.

I've got two male hapa and two hapa female in my close family. They don't look asian compared to asians. Hell Dean Cain and Russel Wong looks more asian than my hapa family members.

Unless these kids dye their hair black, wear darker color contacts, and get skin cream for the freckles. The blind and the deaf will know their mix hertiage 5 miles away in a foggy storm.

Was just wondering guys, how are hapas accepted in the coutries of their asian heritage? My father is from Vietnam, and i hope to go there in a few years, but i dont really want to go if i will be discriminated against. I know there are hapa street kids there called "bu doi", so i am not sure...

PS: Any west canadian hapas out there?
