WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
fujisan,
Not all Europeans are that tall. Some certainly are, like the Dutch, who AVERAGE 185cm (can you believe that shit?). Germans average about 175-180cm, which is tall but not amazing, despite what propaganda you've read about the supposedly genetically superior "pure aryan" race. However, the Brits, some Spanish and also the Italians average about 170-175cm. Above average by Asian standards, but not eye-popping either. But I think caucasians tend to naturally have more upper body mass (and more fat, unfortunately for them).
some dood.

fujisan,
I'm Korean, and I am 172cm, which is just about 5'8". So I guess I'm under average for a Korean. Most young Korean men range from 170 to 183 or so (5-7 to 6 feet). Rarely do you run into a young Korean man shorter than 165cm (5-foot-5). O well. I think most of your gernalizations are true, except for the Japanese. They are significantly shorter than Koreans, prob in the mid-to-upper 160s (165~169cm). Today, there are more Japanese individuals that are taller than 175, but the overall height is still quite low. I think it's probably because they are islanders. The English are also islanders, and are sometimes quite short compared to their other European neighbors. I read that they average about 170-172 cm, which is quite short for Europeans. Must be some connection between the lifestyle and diet that go hand-in-han with living on an island.

sorry, but i don't think the northern chinese average 185 cm. neither do most europeans. i'd say aroung 178-180 cm is more plausibly.

Im a 5'11 Laos guy, my sister is 5'9 and my bro is 5'5 and parents are even shorter. I believe WHOLE MILK does contribute to your height. As for my own experience, I saw Cindy Crawford do a milk commercial and I saw her results. Not saying I want curves, but to see what milk does I drank it since grade school. I'm perfectly happy with my height, thankyou Cindy! :)

I'd say that in general, the tallest people in Asia are:
1) Northern Chinese who range about as tall as Europeans are, around the 185cm mark.
2) Manchurian Chinese, although kinda like the Han Chinese nowadays, are of a diffewrent root. They are around the 180ish to 185 mark.
3) Korean who are around 175+ to 180
The remainder may be dispited but...:
4) Southern Chinese and Japanese around the low 170s.
5) All other SE Asians who are mainly in the 160s.
Note: there may be exceptions and these are for male heights.

steps to growing and reaching your full height potential.
1) Do not eat rice. pound for pound, wheat and potatoes give you more calories. Wheat has very strong growth promoting properties. While rice is just mainly water and fiber. All carbos are not equal.
2) You don't need to drink milk to become tall, but if you do you have to drink whole milk and warm. The fat helps you absorb calcium. This is something intuitively known by babies and animals. Babies/animals will not drink cold/fatfree milk.
3)THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE! You have to learn to relax. The brain consumes 20% of your body's oxygen and calories.
4) the reason why most people stop growing is b/c of their mind. the mind is all powerful. Check out Micheal Murphy's "The Future of the Body". I
bought it years ago( I think about 7 yrs ago?)
Anyways. Good Luck.
AK
p.s I'm currently 35yo and 5'11"/205 lbs.
how I grew 4 inches at about the ages of 28-30

Northern And Southern Chinese people
are two different sort of people. The culture is different and yes the physical features are different also. The Northerners are for sure taller on an average basis. Most of the Southerners of descendants of places like Hong Kong and Guangzhou. You notice that Hong Kong people in general are quite short. I'm a southerner, and I think I got it lucky for me, cause I'm 6'1 and perfectly satisfied with my height.

If you want to grow taller, and are still in your growing years--drink milk! (that's if you can tolerate milk)
my younger siblings drank lots of milk growing up, but I hated it, and had heard that it made you FAT, so I tried to avoid dairy products from mid-teens to my mid-20s. The ones that drank milk shot up an extra 5 inches taller than me (though I am not short either --5'6" for a female). Anyway, it could have been a coincidence, but I don't think so. We are first generation Canadian Chinese. My mother is about 5'2", and my father was about 5'5". On the other hand, I do have uncles who are over 6 feet tall and were from China. So who knows, maybe it was just the luck of the draw genetically. Still, I think it was the milk.
