Hey, I have a question. Why is there an area in LA called "South Bay" when there isn't really a bay there. The only real "South Bay" is San Jose up in the "BAY AREA."

Born To Kill,
They went the way of Uncle Seven, their either dead or locked up or living straight. All the 80's and 90's youth gangs just wither away. Ghost Shadow, Green Dragon, White Tiger, Flying Dragons, OP, Fukinese Boys...same situation. Guilanni cracked down on all of them.
The factor other that caused them to wither is over competition in prostition and gambling dens. Plus new organization from Mainland are also setting up shop here. And the Tong to Youth gang dynamtics have changed greatly in the city.

It will eventually take the place of the West Side of Los Angeles in economic importance. There are too many succesful Asians moving out here for this not to happen. China will be the center of commerce in the next decade and SGV is housing some of the most prominant Asian movers and shakers with ties to these Asian economic powerhouses -not the West Side.
I spit on Beverly Hills and Brentwood (Malibu is nice however), try San Marino, La Canada, South Pasadena or Arcadia. For instance, at least you can walk around the plush tree lined streets of San Marino without having to look over your shoulder every 2 minutes. You can't just enjoy walking around your neighborhood anywhere on the West Side because their are dangerous crime-ridden pockets burried between all of the nice houses. Also, some of these celebrities think they can get away with anything they want to against non-entertainers -look at O.J. -scott free. Just watch.

Who cares where you live in the SGV, it's all pretty much the same.. you have your upperclass cities and you have your lower class and in-between cities. Asians are found in all cities regardless of financial wealth. Each city has it's own pros and cons, find the city that meets your needs before you move.

I am a 3rd generation Chinese American and have lived in a Hollywood home near the hills all my life. The only Chinese place I have visited ever is the Chinatown in downtown LA. I frequent the Westside more than I do Chinatown. I have never been to the San Gabriel areas. I guess I have missed out on the scenes. I really don't know how it is to think and feel like the young people living there. What are the great clubs to go dancing in Alhambra, Monterey Park, Rosemead, etc.?

Claremont and outlining area may be boring to young, single people, but I think it's a great place to raise a family in- good schools, low crime rate, family friendly

I would prefer living in a conservative place than a place that has shops that open late for gangs to hang out in. Stability and safety comes before anything else.
