That's funny:
Looking to make jokes about transport systems? Here's a really short one that sets everyone laughing: Los Angeles Subway System.

The Bay area is defunct like your topic. Who cares about this anyways? Sorry but the Bay area is in transition when it comes to transportation, they don't know whether they want to copy LA or NY thus the traffic situations are as confusing as the systems themselves.

LA/Southern California? Best place for raising a family? Oh, PUH-LEAZE. Ain't NO way in the universe I'm going to raise my kids in the cesspool known as LA. So LA has lots of asians. Guess what, so does asia, LOL. Who flipping cares? Since when does quality of life have anything to do with racial demographics?

If I raised my kids in LA, gang capital of the world, there's an increased chance that they'll become yet another wanna be gang banger. Then they go to prison where asians have greenlights on them (which means it's ok to beat or kill asian prisoners in california prisons, so they are segregated away from the mainline). What kind of a life is that?

Stay away, LA.

I find it kind of ironic that according to this poll, "traffic & sprawl" is chosen as the worst thing about living in LA, yet most people think that the best thing about living in LA is the "attractive residential areas" which could only have resulted from LA's massive growth and sprawl.

If LA didn't sprawl, we'd be faced with the worst things about living in New York City and San Francisco; overpriced, unaffordable housing.

Anyways, San Gabriel Valley is the best overall place for Asians in LA. Orange County is good for raising a family, but it's sort of far from the well-known LA hot spots (besides Disneyland).

"Kind of reminds of the same pot heads who put together the moronic and traffic ridden freeways and transportation systems in Nor Cal. What were they smoking? No contest."

Is this the most hypocritical thing coming from an LA person or what? Traffic and poor transportation systems?

"There is only one South Bay my friend, and that is in LA. Try arguing your point when you find a beach that is not 2 hours from the Silicon Valley area! LOL."

Who ever mentioned a beach?! Does GREEN BAY, Wisconsin have a beach?

Norcal is called "THE BAY," hence each region is described in reference to it's location on "THE BAY." North Bay, East Bay, South Bay, etc. Santa Cruz is only 25 mins from San Jose. It's the best beach resort amusement park in California. Santa Monica Pier and Belmont Park don't even compare.

pet shop gurl,

I've been in NYC most of my life. Can you explain to me how one gains enlightenment in this dog-eat-dog city.

It's called "South Bay" because it's right below the San Francisco Bay and you can get to a beach within an hours drive... go to Santa Cruz, beautiful beach. =P

Living in the Bay area or socal has both it's good and bad points, it just all depends what you prefer.

Advice:

Grow up in LA.
When you're in College and in your 20s, move to New York and become enlightened. (truer words never spoken)
When it's time to settle down and start your own family, move back to L.A.

Happily ever after.

I was wondering why they call the San Jose area and surrounding areas a Bay at all seeing as there is no ocean or beach for miles around these places. The South Bay of Los Angeles includes places like Palos Verdes, Torrance, Redondo, etc. all beach communities.

But the South Bay in Northern CA, I don't get it. That doesn't make any sense. Too much pot smoking up there I guess when they were naming areas of Nor. Cal. Maybe they were on acid and thought they saw water. Kind of reminds of the same pot heads who put together the moronic and traffic ridden freeways and transportation systems in Nor Cal. What were they smoking? No contest.

There is only one South Bay my friend, and that is in LA. Try arguing your point when you find a beach that is not 2 hours from the Silicon Valley area! LOL.
