WHAT YOU SAY

Hi Strawberry,
Thanks so much for your post. I know of some ppl who have had their lips done by Middleton and they said he was too rushed and unhelpful.
I know that Dr. Wong has done more than 2000 blepharoplasties so that's why he's so appealing to me, plus he would know more about Asian beauty standards more than Dr. M. But please keep me posted with how your surgery is going, so that I may change my mind with Wong and go with Middleton.

One more question: How was your sister's nose before the surgery? Was it a dramatic or subtle change? I want a dramatic change b/c unlike a lot of Asians, my nose has a high bridge and a bump a the end. It's way too big for my face.
Thanks so much
MT

I think that most people at any age know that they may go through some pain after their surgery. I don't think that anyone thinks that they will come out of the surgery with their new face or body and ready to go play. I am sure that anyone who is considering surgery will read up on what their surgery involves, including the procedure, recovery and risks. I for one am well aware of what to expect. I have never ever thought of doing cosmetic surgery before...until half a year ago. I was watching a program about cosmetic surgery and it interested me. These days everybody is doing things to enhance their looks. There is nothing wrong with that. Alot of people want to do it, some just don't have the money or the guts.
There is a problem though if somebody preoccupies themselves with their body and face, constantly analyzing to see what is wrong and can be fixed. That would be a form of body dysmorphic order.
Most of the caucasian and asian actors/actresses out there have done one thing or another to themselves, but we still like them right? They are not bad people for doing surgery so why can't the general public do it if it makes them happy? Years ago i would've never done surgery even if someone paid me...but now i've changed my mind. But the only thing i want to do is my eyes...it is not a life and death situation that i cannot go on if i don't do it but i think it will be so great to not have to wear eyeliner all the time and still have nice looking eyes.

Hey if you want to get cosmetic surgery to make yourself look and feel better than go for it, it's your life, your face, your body. But I think that when girls in their teens and twenties get surgery they don't understand that it will be very painful, and they might regret it later in life. I think it shows a real lack of self-esteem, to be so focused on looks looks looks instead of more important things about yourself. I myself would never get any surgery, I don't want anyone cutting up my face. But I might reconsider when I'm 50 and could use a face lift.

TaiwanGirl,
There is eyelid tape that creates the double eyelid fold. I haven't tried it myself but my sister's friend has and said she'll let me try it when i go to toronto. They don't sell it here in Portland otherwise i'd buy it and try it.
I have heard about the glue but it sounds messy. Maybe i'll take a trip to Seattle and see if they sell the tape, i want to try it. Does anyone know of a place in Seattle that sells it? God i miss Toronto, it has everything.

MT,
I am glad that you brought up Dr. Joseph Wong. I saw his website and i was considering getting my eyelids done in his Scarborough clinic. I was debating between him or the doctor who did my sister's nose, Dr. Middleton in Spadina. Dr. Wong is chinese and figured he probrably has alot of experience with asian patients. On the otherhand my sister said she would recommend Dr. Middleton cause he is straightforward, honest and has done alot of celebrities too, even won the plastic surgeon of the year award. She was also very happy with her results on her nose. So i called Dr. Wong to make a consultation and the secretary was rude! She seemed rushed and unhelpful. I called in April to make the consultation for July since i'll be going to Toronto that month. I asked how long after the consultation will i get my surgery and she said she cannot guarantee me a surgery date during my stay in Toronto unless i send a cheque before May I still booked a consultation.
After I called Dr. Middleton and the secretary was extrememly nice and patient...answering all my questions and concerns, made sure i knew where i could find a parking spot, etc. I asked if he does alot of double eyelid surgery and she said oh yes...and they are very nice the way he does it. I also asked how long after my consultation can i get my surgery and she said she's sure Dr. M will consider the fact that i'm in Toronto for only a month and will give it to me within 2 weeks. She said also because the surgery is very simple and they also have an operating room at their clinic.
The first example is beautifl, that's the type of crease i'm gonna request for. The secretary also said that you can tell Dr. M how big or small of a crease you want.
I recently called Dr. Wong and cancelled my appointment. If you want, you can wait til i get it done in July. I will post my results in Aug. I am quite confident that he'll do a good job. My sister's nose looks really good. Dr. M's plastic surgery expertise has also been talked about in magazines like Flare Magazine.
So, MT, at the moment i would reccomend Middleton since my sister's nose done 3 years ago looks great and she never had any complications from it. I will post my results of my eyes in Aug. Goodluck to you too. Hope my post helped a bit.
