San francisco, San Francisco!! you are a joke! a loser town with nothing to offer except cable cars & ugly victorian homes and horrible food to your freakin Japanese tourists!
I don't know how you guys eat over there, I'm surprised you haven't all starved to death.

you guys just need to stay put where you are, a remote & lonely outpost in the west, & stop bashing NYC, cuz NY rocks!!!!!! don't try to imitiate us cuz there is only one New York, the greatest city on the earth! and well, frisco will just be frisco, haha,,,

None of the "best things" about SF are even in my list, except possibly the wine. And the universities. All the other stuff, Vancouver (Canada) provides more of and at cheaper prices! If you ever get bored of the dry climate, lousy (and long) commutes, expensive housing, high prices, visit Vancouver for a week. You can thank me later.

wow, pretty heated discussions here. I think its cool that we have little asian communities scattered everywhere, not only in the States, but in Canada, Austrailia, NZ, and Europe. Its ture that we should try to mix and blend in more with the community. But we have to consider that alot of the Chinese community living abroad are the older generation Chinese who immigrated with little education, and speal little English. Therefore they tend to stick with their own kind. But the new generation will gradually change all this, and we will one day blend in more.

HA HA...You know what NYC? You are right...I thought you were just another ignorant person posting a bunch of bullshit. I apologize, I was just sticking up of SF just because I was born and raised here. I can sound like a cold hearted chinaman racist once in a while.
I used to live in NY at one time...Bayside, Queens to be exact. I really miss that place. The people there are really cool and Flushing has a lot of pretty ladies that hang out in coffee shops on Northern Blvd. My only regret was that my ex girlfriend broke up with me there to go out with a wanna be "brother". Anyway best of luck to you on the East Coast...Life goes on!!

to asia sf,

i am in new york and i don't live in your little f***king phony town. NO, I am not an afro wannabe asian dude like some of you out there. first of all, SF is a messed up place (e.g. cunning and corrupt black mayor, narcissistic chinese with their own selfish agenda, lousy elitist and ignorant whites..etc.. ) and what i've described based on my experiences hold some truth to what SF is really like. yeah, SF on the surface is nice with it charming fog, sloping streets and green palm trees. people everywhere are captivated by its scenery. but if you look closer, SF is not all that pretty but downright ugly with all its uncaring and selfish residents and bureacracy. yes, blacks can be a nuisance to the provincial minded and territorial chinese who think they own the darn freaking city but don't even have a tinge of political power in office. the city has a housing shortage and homeless people are like the new tourist attraction. the housing projects you described look like more like prison camps than residential areas (even alcatraz is more liveable than those houses). the city hasn't done a darn thing in helping the poor and the working class and by the way, public transportation is ancient and it sucks. everyone out there just don't f****king care about the city and you know it.

That's sad, Superfly, I don't understand why women with boob jobs get more tips anymore than why blondes do. I think there is a growing movement amongst men that boob jobs are on the outs, and there is nothing more beautiful than natural breasts. Nothing annoys me more than seeing some slim lady with huge knockers that look like softballs on her chest. PUHLEAZE, keep it natural ladies. Now if you're totally flat, I can understand a MODEST job, but some of these out of proportion deals are gross.

To NYC Chinese that hate Sf chinese:
You sound like a stupid liberal idiot. First of all, you must look pretty damn shady in order for someone to let you look at your own pictures before paying for them!!
Second..Of course everybody looks at the black man when he walks into an all asian establishment. Not because he is a thief or criminal but because he is a choclate chip in a bowl of rice. So of course he is going to stand out like a sore thumb!!!
I do not feel that those people in the chinese restaurant are any more prejudice than any other race.
look at the denny"s incident a couple of years ago with the black secret service agents!!
3rd...If you knew the route the trolly driver had to drive through everyday, YOU TOO would have the same opinion!!
It starts off in a housing project and it ends up at the last stop where all the losers, pimps, druggies, and scum of society hang out during the day while waiting to pick up their welfare checks,(That you and I pay for out of our tax dollars) at the check cashing store down the block.
To sum up my whole response regarding your ignorant post on this website, You should just go back to New York. You probably look like one of those stupid asian guys that look like a wannabee black guy with a gold tooth and cornrows in your head, But forgot to look in the mirror!!

I don't know if I would ever seriously date a stripper, at least not for a full-time stripper who would spend 6 months away on the burlesque circuit. Sure, I would kick it with them and have some fun, but as far as the serious, big "C", going-steady-then-marriage-looming thing, I am not so sure. Not so much that I would get jealous, just that most of my buddies I know who have had a stripper g-friend, usually their relationships lasted no more than 3 months at best. Yes, some guys got jealous, esp. if the girl was a hottie, but usually it's the girl who broke up with them. Fickle, I guess.

to cali girl,

yep, i really dislike many of the sf chinese and their attitudes towards outsiders. i remembered 3 years ago i was in this photo developing shop in SF's Chinatown to get my photos and this man treated me with disdain. he took the batch of photos that i've taken and insisted me to pay up before i could lay my hands on them. he became very defensive about it and wanted to curse the hell out of me. i told him i just wanted to glance at the photos before paying up and he said "NO". rude new yorkers and new york chinese would never treat customers like the way he did. another incident took place in a sf chinese restuarant, i remembered a nice looking and innocent black man entered the restuarant and many chinese just "freaked out" including the owner, it's like they never seen a black person in a chinese restuarant before. new york chinese restaurants never treat black patrons with such xenophobic attitude. another bad experience i had was in the snail trolley that runs from one end to the other end of market st. the driver was chinese and he was making these incredibly ridiculous and loud racial epithets about black and white people with another chinese in the cantonese dialect. these people should be damn any time of the day. like i said before, i don't have any high regards for the sf chinese, none of them, maybe with the rare exception of some sf abc's that i've met. sometimes i just wonder how in the hell these people become such extremely ignorant and close minded individuals.

did you know bruce lee who was born in san francisco also said his chinese community was close minded? so it's nothing new, and maybe that's why he became friends with people of other cultures and races.

For holla: Yes some strippers DO make that a night, but since this dot com fallout, there aren't many good tipping customers. I remember when foreign tourists used to blow $2,000 a night at clubs...Not anymore. Most strippers also have boob jobs done in order to make more money. My old lady does not want to do that so this means less tips.... She also DOESN'T work at the GOLD CLUB or CENTERFOLDS where there is a high volume of foot traffic. As for meeting a stripper..It's hit or miss. I met mine when she used to work at a restaurant and stripped part time. Strippers hardly ever give their # out at the club. The best way is to get to know them out of the club. Most girls hang out together when not at work. You have to find out what clubs they go to party at. Hint...The one I work at. Or Ruby Skye off of Mason street
Superfly    Thursday, August 30, 2001 at 02:20:40 (PDT)
I live in the East Bay so the city is only 20 minutes away (w/o traffic). I wouldn't want to live anywhere else....well, except maybe New York.
Jocelyn    Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at 18:53:00 (PDT)
Ummm, Superfly, don't strippers average something like 600 dollars plus a night? Anyways, PLEASE let me know how to hook up with a stripper. I don't have hangups about having a stripper as a girlfriend, none of that "oh I'll save you" crap or lying to get in a relationship with them and then turning around and giving them hell for doing it. Hell, a stripper would make 10 times what I make, and I could care less what she does in a club (of course nothing involving the ol' ding a ling).

For the guy from NYC, I grew up in Queens and NY is pretty awesome. I can relate to what you said about the people over there compared to those over here and your views on SF. I totally agree. The only reason I moved here was for tech. If I had my choice I would really like to live over there again. And what's up with the Chinese food over here?!?! I'm not talking about the Amer-Asian food places but even the authentic places, compared to LA are very expensive for the quality that you get. You can get nice stuff at some places in the city but they charge literally double what you would pay in LA! That really sucks. I have found a few good places price-wise and quality-wise in the east bay but the selection is few =(
