Maybe if you did a breakdown by census tract, you'd find that the Asians in Cali are more concentrated in certain neighborhoods, though. Despite Alameda county having about 20% Asians, I can take a long drive around my parent's neighborhood in Oakland and not even find a Chinese carryout. Is it the same in NYC, with some neighborhoods overwhelmingly Asian and others overwhelmingly White? This phenomenon is obvious even on a county-wide scale, San Francisco county with 30%+ Asian population is just a drive across the bridge from Marin county with 6% Asians. 80% of Asians in California live in a county adjoining the coastline or the SF Bay. Then again this is pattern is repeated for the whole US, though not to the same extent.

Mr. Lien, that is exactly what I was trying to say. Thanks.

I was telling Toisan Jai in the previous post that Asian percentages vary from one neighborhood to the other and also with the counties. Obviously SF has more Asians than Marin County and sighting Asians in SF of course is phenemonal.

New York City (including Queens and Kings County or what we call the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn) has more Asians than SF. But the fact that New York is bigger than SF as a city, the Asians in NYC have more places to spread out and to separate themselves from a large group of Asians. In SF, there is lesser area for Asians to do such a thing, therefore you get the feeling that they're Asians everywhere. This applies neighboring counties such as Orange County and that of Los Angeles both places having more Asians but are they are less sighted than in SF.

Toisan Jai,

In NYC, we have everything, HK Chics, Taiwanese Chics, Fukienese Chics(although this group might be the last group to be digging for chics), homegrown Asian hotties and cuties from elsewhere...I have met girls from Van and Toronto who came here to live as well.

Maybe the Bay Area does have a higher percentage of Asians than NYC. Facts need to be gathered and compared to prove it.

Say I lived in mainland China, where obviously, it's pretty much 100% Chinese. If I lived out in the farms somewhere, and only see 5 people a day, does that mean that NYC has more Chinese?!?!

Someone needs to find out the Asian population of the entire Bay Area (all those counties you've just mentioned) and compare them against with NYC's Asian population. That would be fair enough and I think NYC would be fairly close. Also, NYC doesn't go by counties, we have boroughs..

These are the Chinese neighborhoods in NYC and its boroughs. Manhattan Chinatown, Lower East Side, Elmhurst, Flushing, Forest Hills, Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, Bensonhurst and growing. I don't know if the Chinese population in the Bay Area is growing rapidly because out here, the Chinese are like roaches...

These are the Korean neighborhoods in NYC and its boroughs. Manhattan Koreantown, Elmhurst, Flushing.

These are the Japanese neighborhoods in NYC and its boroughs, East Village, Forest Hills.

Southeast Asians with exception of Flips make up a small population in NYC. If you have included Indians in your Asian population of the Bay Area, then I think NY has the higher percentage of Asians by pure speculation.

These are the non Asian neighborhoods in NYC which have many Asians and seeing 100 people a day in these areas will guarantee a sight of 25 Asians or more, Soho, Greenwhich Village, East Village, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Tribeca, Turtle Bay, Kips Bay..too many more to name...

Also, there are many Chinese here delivering Chinese food by bicycle in Non Asian areas. So seeing 100 pedestrians, you would find at least 5 Chinese riding bikes delivering food.

Seeing 300 people in NYC and only 48 would be Asian happen only in neighboorhoods that are distinctly more Black, Latino, or White. If there is a neighboorhod or area where Asian numbers are fairly equal with other groups, the number would be higher.

If you go to neighborhoods that are distinctly Black, Latino or White in the Bay Area, the same would happen.

Again, we need to know the entire Asian population in the Bay Area and that of New York City because certain places in our city which are non Asian vary in the number of Asians seen per day.
