[I work in the real estate biz, and there are TONS of Asians in Antioch. I think there are more there than in Concord. You are right. The city does suck though.]

So/No Cal,

Yeah, the Asians in the Bay Area are more concentrated than in LA. This is the reason why the percentages of Asians are higher by the Bay. This is also ANOTHER FREAKING REASON why NY especially Queens County, NY has a higher percentage of Asians than in LA. Comparing Queens County to LA is like comparing the size of a flea to that of an elephant. The population of Asians in LA is way way more than that of Queens County. This whole percentage thing regarding Asians is sometimes a bunch of BS..people get the feeling that when Asians are more concentrated in some areas, those places has more Asians than in places with less Asians sighted, which is certainly not the case between LA and NY.

The entire Bay Area has an Asian population over a million and so does LA. If you include Sac with the Bay Area, it will exceed that of LA, if you don't include it, the numbers are close. Btw, Sac should be part of the Bay Area because it isn't that far from SF. The distance between LA and SD is further..I think it is, I may be wrong!

TSJ,

On another forum, u posted "Am i just seeing things the wrong way or are the best areas for Asians the ones with the least amount of white people? It seems if you get one ethnic group with too many numbers and you get a certain degree of intolerance."

Well, that's just saying that it makes us feel more at home with our own people all around. It would be like we are back in HK or Saigon or something.

I value diversity and being Asian myself, I prefer to be in places with many Asians too, but places with too many Asians can be boring and Asians can become suspicious of non-Asians.

It's a funny thing for me, I know many Asians outside of NY but I just hate to associate with many of them out here on the East Coast. Maybe it's the excessive rudeness of Asian New Yorkers..West Coast Asians in general are much more relaxed and less tense than the ones out here. Different Worlds=Different Attitudes!

I still believe the LA area has more Asians than the Bay Area (it may appear that the Bay Area has more because they are more concentrated, but in the LA area they are more spread out). Maybe percentage wise, the Bay Area has a higher percentage of Asians, but not in sure numbers. You can throw in Sacramento,(maybe Northern Cal may have more Asians than LA, but probably not more than all of Southern Cal) then for the LA area, you might as well throw in the San Diego area.

"Hey TSJ, I live in Contra Costa and I'd have to say that Richmond is probably the only city with a substantial Asian population. Every other city east of Berkeley doesn't have many Asians at all."

As far as defending Sactown... not to be rude or anything, but your CoCo County isn't exactly the most highly thought of region of the Bay either.

If I had 500 g's, I'd get one of those new condos on Van Ness in the City. Or better yet, I'd move up to Van City, BC.

Hey TSJ, I live in Contra Costa and I'd have to say that Richmond is probably the only city with a substantial Asian population. Every other city east of Berkeley doesn't have many Asians at all.

I've also lived near Sac and it's pretty harsh to call everyone out there trailer trash. Don't generalize about us in the Bay Area, maybe it's just YOU that looks down on Sacramento people. Do you actually own your own house in the bay area? I just happen to be lucky that my parents have a house here, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it either. A lot of the people that live in Sac now are people from the Bay Area. I can't blame them for moving, I'd rather live in a brand new house over there for half the price, rather than spending 500k for a tiny old house in the middle of the Sunset. I also wouldn't pay that much to live in Antioch, which might as well be Sac since it's in the middle of nowhere.

Just my thoughts.
