Nah, I wasn't taking jabs at Cali folks. I was trying to convince people that NY has a substantial Asian % like that of the Bay Area. The Bay Area alone is not a city but an area consisting of several counties, so they divided it up which is correct. However, they divided NYC into NY County, Kings and Queens Counties. All these counties are part of NYC, so why divide them up?
Honestly, I think SF is a beautiful place and the rest of the Bay Area is OK. The downside of SF is that it is an expensive city for its size. Also, many people try to make that place their home which causes many problems. SF was intended for young people (people in their late teens and 20's), people would live there for a brief moment and then move out of there. The only thing that really bothers me is those pockets of Asian neighborhoods by the Bay crowded with FOBs especially those from HK. When I was in SF last year visiting my relatives, I was surprised to find more FOBs than AAs. And yeah,
those girls from SF look lost or something! Maybe it's those FOB types.
The segregation of FOBs and AAs in NY is less apparent. The reason is because NY is packed with people so everyone is lumped together. But again, usually FOBs are those immigrant types and those who like to hangout in Chinatown or some segregated Asian neighborhood.
NYC overall does seems to be most segregated in terms of residential neighborhoods. Every ethnic/racial group seem to have their own neighborhood. It doesn't seem like that because people of all colors ride the same trains, tread, work and shop in the same areas. It's simple! One group doesn't associate with another, but somehow we are in the mix of things. For example, it's common to find rich white neigborhoods next to poor minority neighborhoods and people from each neighborhood would tread into the other one.

Hey Toi San Doi! At first I thought you were taking jabs at California by saying that our areas are like this and like that. Now, you say CA people are nicer. So, what is it? haha Anyways, I just noticed this old post you put up about the segregated neighborhoods.

I didn't see it at first because this site doesn't automatically update. This is interesting because Stockton and Vallejo are included in the mix. Stockton is about 1/2 hour from the easternmost tip of the Bay Area (closer than Sacramento), out in the valley. The population is about 300,000 or so. Many refugees (Viet, Cambo, Laos) were sent out to that area, as well as Fresno (another hellhole). There aren't too many Chinese or Koreans and the like out there.
Vallejo is a city on the northern edge of the Bay, with less then 150,000 residents. It was the first Filipino community set up in the Bay Area. There are few other types of Asians there besides Filipinos.
It's odd how they put these smaller towns together with all those larger cities. Are the rest of the cities metro areas or just the proper cities themselves?
Sacramento is about an hour away from the northernmost city in the Bay Area, Fairfield. San Diego is about one hour from the southernmost city in metro LA, Irvine (although many would claim that Orange County is a seperate area all on its own). I would guess that the population of Asians in San Diego and Sacramento are quite similar. Both also have a large refugee population. I guess the lucky ones got to go to sunny, beachy San Diego, and the unfortunate ones were sent out to the boonies in Sacramento!
Hey Jay! Where do you live? San Jose has tons of hapa honies. However, Chinese hapa honies are hard to come by. There are tons of Pinay and Viet hapas though. Avoid San Francisco. The city is nice, and I would love to live there, but the girls are just too darn old fashioned.
