WHAT YOU SAY

Damn my mum is exactly the same and its sicK!!!! i mean it seems that what other ppl think is more important than how ur daughter feels, which i reckon is just bang out of order. K, its one thing to only want ur childrent to have the things you've never had and blah blah etc..but its another to put all this pressure on them to do well and conform to this freak who u can show off to ur friends. As a result, i have only two career paths, doctor (lol Whatever!!) or pharmacist, cos apparently, it was never my decision to make. Neither of which appeal to me and it just all sucks....lol anyway, tis all the moanin im gonna do for today.
random viet girl: i knw i knw..no replies yeh? well sorrie cant help myself..but abt the whole nose job thing...r u serious???? if so DONT DO IT.!!!! cry and cry and cry...works every time =p [until she starts doing it herself cos her daugter decides to make her own decisons for once..!But dont fall for it!!! they're good, or at least my mum is, at givin guilt trips. no flippin shame whatsoeva]

100%VietGuy,
I had a similar experience. My current boyfriend is Korean American, and when his mother first heard about him dating me, she wasn't too happy. I wasn't what she had in mind for a "daughter-in-law", you know, a shy, obedient Christian Korean girl. I was a bit discouraged by her disapproval at first but my boyfriend handled the situation very well. He sat his mom down and explained to her how happy he is being with me and etc. And he brought me home to see her. Her attitude completely changed after that, I think both because she loves her son and because she sees how great we are together. She's been very affectionate to me, in fact, a bit TOO affectionate :)
Besides the mother, his family, including his grandparents, didn't have any problem with me. In fact, they have treated me very warmly. I guess it all depends on the people. I'd get very offended if somebody made that kind of remarks to me too.
Proud of being a Vietnamese.

I am a Vietnamese guy dating a korean girl... Most of her friends and family make a judgement even before they see me just hearing that I am vietnamese. But once they see me they are like... oh you don't look or act like a typical vietnamese person.. I get very offended by that remark. I am 100% vietnamese and proud of it. I wonder if anyone else gets similar problems.

Proud and Rich Viet Girl,
Hmm... where did you hear the bad rep from????
Each culture has its own beauty and blemishes. No culture can arrogantly beat on the chest and say, "We are the superiors".
I am Vietnamese, very proud of my heritage. At the same time I admire other Asian races for their beauty as well.
It's not how rich we are that make the difference. It's how we treat other people, that makes the difference.

hi everyone,
i've never realized that viet people got such a bad rep. i come from a really good family. both my parents worked extremely hard to get where they are. they are both professionals and we live in a huge ass house and their income is way over 100,000 a year. i'm just telling you this to show you that there are vietnamese people out there succeeding. so take pride in who you are. it just takes hard work to climb up the social ladder in this world. and once you're at the top, you can look down and stick your tongues out at all those morons that gave you crap for who you are.
