WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
I have been to Vietnam for more than a dozen times for a simple reason:
I like the Vietnamese girls in Vietnam but not the ones over here. I think Vietnamese girls in the U.S. are so stucked up even though they are very ugly and with an attitude. Who would want those kinds of girls ?
This explain why many Vietnamese American men today are coming to Vietnam to bring nice ones over here, leaving lots and lots of Vietnamese females unmarried and feeling unsecured. Vietnamese American women hate to see their prospective men come back to bring more competition to them. Their men even "vuot bien" back to Vietnam for a real air of freedom. Some don't even have a Visa from their girls but still escape to point of no return. I hope the Viet females learn some lesson now.
My conclusion is: let's go to Vietnam to find much better choices and to answer the basic question of supply and demand.

It is very simple:
Everything is about demand and supply, in the US there are roughly 1MM Vietnamese. Let's say 50% are Male 50% are Female. So that is 500,000 Females, from that let's break it down to 250K are older and 250K younger, if you are like me and are not interested in people or your mother's age then you would choose the latter sample. From that you can deductively scale down the chain to find your dream woman, and what do you have not much to deal with. So there my friend, what is one to do? It so happens that I don't have a great deal of problems meeting Viet women, but in the end I want my cake and eat it too! There is simply not a big enough selection in this country or outside of Vietnam. I do, however, tend to favor Viet women from Europe, for their attitude and femininity and less material(read: label conscious) driven.
Good luck boys!

Moonshineprincess,
You can't play somebody without playing yourself. You reap what you sow. When some people get old they look around and they have nobody but themselves. That can be a scary thought.

Hey Moonshineprincess,
Life is a game. It's how you play the game of life. The game can be disguised as life too!! Sounds like you were part of the game at some point!

Being a Vietnamese man, I could understand why dating another Vietnamese woman would be in sense easier than dating other asian races or any other race. I've dated only one Vietnamese woman and she became my first love - just because we had something in common - we understand what our people had gone through to get to where they are. I never really had an eye for vietnamese women, for there is a lack of them in NYC - but what my professor of vietnamese studies told me, "there is nothing better than a vietnamese woman, family always comes first and she is always the boss running the family". I just find it great to talk to your significant other in vietnamese even though it may be broken vietnamese
From looking at the poll I don't know why each of the sexes would think that the other sex won't be attracted to them.
As for other asian races with negative views on vietnamese people - I can personally say that parents of first generation asian americans don't want there children to lose their roots. They feel that it would be lost down the line. But we also have to remember that what your future generation will have part of their identity be molded by you.

From a personal experience, I've dated 4 Viet guys, 1 Flip, 1 Chinese, and gotten to know guys of other races (but did NOT attempt to go out w/them).
Anyhow, it seems like regardless of the guys' race, most Asian Men do have the same mentality. Other races have their own. Ultimately, the all have one of the same mentalities: they all don't somehow completely understand women. That's okay tho. Cuz us women don't completely understand them either.
From a Viet's perspective, I'm more comfortable w/dating Viet men. However, even then, it is still difficult, bcuz I still have to live up to not only my family's EXPECTATIONS but his as well.
