WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Actually regarding the comment about most of germany's soccer players being black... nope, only one. I think germany was one of the last european teams to hold out on this practice and I didn't see too much action from this guy in the world cup, except as a final act of desparation from the Germans when they were trailing by two points to brazil.
You must be thinkin' of France or Poland or whatever.
But as they say... All's fair... China, Corea, and Japan may as well start having players from Mongolia and Samoa :) They can sit on the European players while the rest of the team score goals.
But the US soccer team? Yeah whatever. Real manly men they are, LOL. whattabunchofrejects.

i a vietnamese guy, and i think that the some koreans are using the population of chinese for the excuse of chinese winning more medal than any other asian nation. Yes it truth that china population is much bigger than korea and japan, but if you think about it, most of the chinese especially those living in countryside don't even have a chance to show off their talent. The only people that get their talent known are those living in the large city. That propely about 15 percent of the population. Also those living in the countryside don't have sport facility or sport program for them to improve their skill. Therefore they are missing out on a lot of great potential talent. So therefore even with their massive amount of people, their are few people that are presented with the same oppitonity compare to korea and japan in percent wise. Think about, the black in usa make about one percent of the black population in the world, but with better sport program and better nutrition they are by far the faster group of black people in the world. My point here is that there are lot of thing contribute to atletic. You can't just say we have less people and win pretty much medal for that population therefore we better(like some korean are saying in the site). It have many factor like determination, investment(money), interest, and population. But we can't just point at one and say they have lot of this or that therefore they should do better, because ever situation it different and we should take a closer look, before making false assumtion.

What is wrong with you people? It does not really matter who does better. You don't hear Caucasians insulting each other now, do you?
Could it be because most American whites are all mixed? And don't tell me European soccer fans aren't violent.
People, look at the big picture here. You're fighting over senseless things. Be proud of who you are and be proud of your nationality and ethnicity, but don't use it to insult other Asians and use foul language.
Oh brother, what's wrong with little competitive discussion? Of course all this is really senseless but so is war.
I do agree we should cut out insulting others.
Peace.
Why can't we all be friends, guys? Monday, September 02, 2002 at 09:13:54 (PDT) [68.96.110.59]

Population and land size does not and should not equate gifted sports program and opportunities. For one thing, in China, there is lack of space to play sports. That is why basketball is more popular among Chinese youth than is soccer.
Yeah right! It means China has 20 times larger gene pool to choose her athletes from than Corea. But to mention all of her athletes are government funded. China is a HUGE country there isn't a shortage of land. Basketball is not the most popular sport in China, its soccer, always been.
But, basketball still requires more brute strength than soccer.
What is brute strenght? Like in American football or Rugby? Neither b-ball or soccer require alot of strength. But try constantly running on the field for 45 minutes at a time under the hot sun like in soccer.
If we take out blacks, China would probably mow down any white basketball teams there are out there. NBA is not even 5% white-Anglo no more.
Yeah right! Is that why China constantly lose to Yugoslavia, Italy, Spain, etc.
Look at Germany: many of their players were black. LOL!!!
But their best players are white.
And, China lost to them by less than 20 without their best player (Wang Zhizhi) playing.
More excuses??? Such a Chinese.
What will you people come up with next??
China is still a young basketball team Monday, September 02, 2002 at 03:23:16 (PDT) [64.130.235.33]

If it's one thing I can't stand, it's when Asians all try to promote their 'own' race, and try to make it superior to the others. Like for example the Korean skater who was disqualified for knocking the Ohno guy. Guess what? It was an illegal block. Stop trying to justify his actions!
As for Asians in sports, it's obvious. There aren't many. Ichiro is right now the best Asian in baseball(MVP). There are a number of good Japanese and Korean pitchers. It's as if baseball is the one place where Asians are actually making some noise. Football? No. Basketball? The Chinese have the only Asian representative, and maybe he will do well in the NBA, that remains to be seen. In hockey we have the outstanding Paul Kariya. In soccer the Koreans have the best team. Overall the Asians are getting better in the mainstream sports, but have a long way to go to equal the blacks, or whites for that matter.
