It seem like many people on this board thinks that vietnamese people in general are the more unattractive of the other asian ethnicity. I just wanted to say in my opinion that I do not agree with this at all.
I like the vietnamese features such as big eyes, oval or heartshape face, slender cute body. Sure there are beautiful chinese girls, as you mention Zhang Ziyi, but I do not believe that there are alot of Zhang Ziyi or a similar of her walking around. It just seem to me that most the the chinese people are in general a bit more chubbier than vietnamese, because of course vietnam are poorer and we couldn't afford to eat well-nutrition food.
And most of the vietnamese people who lives in Vietnam are darker because we live closer to the equator and the temperature is hot and humid so it's easier to tan. I live in California, I've see alot of Vietnamese American who are lighter, but on average we are not super light like the Chinese, Japenese, and Koreans. But I don't think that our skin is as dark as to be unattrative.
Maybe from where some of you live, you see alot of Chinese women who look like or similar to Zhang Ziyi, but I think it's hard to find. According to me, because I've vistited China Town and Little Saigon(Vietnamese Town) and I see that in general vietnamese women are more attractive, because when I'm in Little Saigon, I tend to be more jealous and envious. But of course that's just simply my opinion.
There are many different opinion and preferences on this board, I'm just simple stating mine, and plus I don't want people to think that vietnamese women are low and unattractive because other people says so. Yes, in a way I am defending Vietnamese people by telling my opinion.
If we don't, then it's the same as letting other people define how we look like and who we are.

So it's true that a lot of Vietnamese females are prettier than Lucy Liu. But Lucy Liu HARDLY represents the beautiful women of the Chinese race. In fact, her looks aren't actually very typical for a Chinese. I agree with Beijing Angelique that the typical Chinese (and that includes Chinese from the North and Eastern Central area like Shanghai, who together outnumber Southern Chinese) female is more like Zhang Ziyi

Some of the VN girls who have posted on here are really narrow-minded. To compare their looks to Chinese women and say things like Vietnamese women don't have a "pig-face, super small eyes, flat flared nose, and "banh bao" face -round face" is lame in trying to defend the esteem of Viet culture. It could make others look down on your superficiality. Plus it's just plain stereotyping.
I have 3 cousins that are 100% Chinese--one a Miss Chinatown top 5 runner-up, one won Miss Chinatown &, one won Miss Chinatown USA, and they don't look like that. Point being, many Chinese females are beautiful (& don't look like Lucy Liu), like many Vietnamese females are beautiful too. If a Chinese person posted here something like Vietnamese women are big-nosed, have high cheekbones, have that long hair down to the knees, and like plastic surgery so they can look white, I don't think these girls would think that is fair to say! From a certain perspective, it seems that Asian people are constantly stepping on others, particularly women. It's too bad a defensiveness is already there, cause it makes it too much harder to get along.

I would have to agree with VN_Girl that I see (with my very own eyes) that there are tons of Vietnamse girls who are much prettier than Lucy Liu. Sorry, I am just being honest with my opinion. I think American peple find her attractive because she has very oriental features in a way that appeals to them, like peacock eyes, i mean like I can see something in her that is seductive, but no beauty whatsoever.

Huh? I've read some of this stuff and it does seem very stupid. Some chinese guys just say things they absolutely know nothing about, ok, so now the vietnamese want to be chinese now? Since when? You know more vietnamese hate chinese then love! Talking about in vietnam not in america. Oh well, think what you want. Ok, i'm in north america, so love for all of you. :)
