does anyone have any tips for lining upper lids? my lids get really oily during the course of the day and most of the time, my liner just smears between my lids and folds.

I am not 100% asian I'm only about half (I'm also half white and Brazilian). My eyes aren't asian, they're up-turned but very almond shaped. Thought I love the way they look natural (it really shows off the shape) I love my eye makeup. I have used just brown eyeliner for years becuz I thought black is too harsh. but now I love black eyeliner. My eye makeup is very creative looking I line the whole eye, but I do the bottom in then inside which is dangerous I've heard but I love the look. I use both liquid and dry pencil. liquid gives you a strong finished line unlike any. it's the best too many but you have to be quite the artist to draw.

I'm Eurasian, and I have very subtle double lids (depends if my eyelids are puffy.) I put concealer under the eye and on the inner corners, including the eyelid (this works as eyeshadow base.) I dust powder over the eye area. Then I remove excess. Then curl eyelashes (definitely important!)Then I apply Cover Girl Triple Mascara in Soft Noir. I love wearing gold, pearly white, and bronze eyeshadow. My faves are Maybelline Cool Effect in Chill the Champagne, Clinique High Impact in Sugar Sugar, and Maybelline Cool Effect in Blizzard Brown.

Just to let everyone know, Shiseido has some great mascara. It might be on the expensive side, but trust me, it is worth it. NO CLUMPS at all. Also, they have the BEST eyelash curler. I have no eyelashes, but when I use Shiseido's curler, damn, do my lashes look good. That curler was the only thing I asked for Xmas from my boyfriend, and it is possibly one of the best gifts so far. Trust me, girls, at least try Shiseido's curler. Even the great makeup artist, Kevyn Aucion, swears by it. =)

chinkyeyes-
are your eyes small too or do they just have single lids? I have single lids but my eyes are big (not too big) - I'm told that if I ever got surgery (which I wouldn't!) that I would have that dreaded, ugly "fish-eye" look.
I never wear eyeshadow, obvious and fake on single lids. I do wear eyeliner, powdery liner in black and then go over the line w/a gold color. I curl my lashes and add mascara (lately I've been using Loreal Voluminous, really thickens). Basically the same look for day & night, just wear lipstick for night. Also, shape your eyebrows, it makes a big difference.
experiment w/what looks good for you. I don't believe the thinking that Asian women shouldn't wear dark eye makeup - if you have dark eyes & dark hair it doesn't look too "made-up" - as long as you don't wear TOO MUCH.

What I do is line the upper lid above the eyelashes plus over the crease a little since my crease is small with dark brown eyeliner, then i go over it with a brownish red lipliner. I then curl my lashes with a eyelash curler and then coat it twice on top. On the bottom lashes i coat it with a very thin coat only on the middle part of my eye bottom lashes. It makes the eyes look more rounder...this technique works best for eyes with smaller eyelid creases.
