unless it's Holloween, I'd stay away from dark eye shadow, it can look too trampy. But once in a while it's fun.

Normally I only wear lipstick, too lazy to do the whole makeup thing. But occasionally I do put on makeup, and when I do I stick with the neutrals. I am a firm believer that makeup is supposed to enhence, not alter your appearance.

I agree that asian eyes look best simple, I think too many of us try to alter them to look less asain. I find my eyes look best with my lashes curled, bottom lid lined, and my lids dusted with a light frost eyeshadow.

I am Native american and not asian, but I find I have the same beauty problems asian women have. I keep a couple of beauty rules that I think other women might find helpful- don't try to look Wonderbread white. More people think an exotic, Asian/Native american look is beautiful that odd. Also, try using a white eyeliner on the inner corners of your eyes. If you tend to look slightly crosseyed from your eyeshape, as I do, it really helps.

hi everyone, I'm new here...what a great site! Some info about me, I'm Chinese-Canadian, I have light to medium skin, and I have a double crease on both eyelids. I like experimenting with new makeup, but tend mostly to stick with browns. During the day, I use a beige beneath my browbone to highlight the eyes, and then a darker color on my eyelids (I like iced coffee from l'Oreal Fresco and copper from MAC). At night I'll sweep a golden shimmer color over the eyelids to give more sparkle (Clinique has a nice one). I've also tried violet shades which are very nice (l'Oreal has a nice quad eyeshadow combo that has hghlighter in pink/lavender and darker purple colours for eyelids). I want to try the new pastel shades (light blue and green) in a sheer colour, anyone have brand/colour suggestions?

Other beauty products I've tried and love:
1) Revlon Skinlights loose powder in Golden - love it!!! Some may find a bit too sparkly, but I'm 30 and even wear it during the day! It gives you a nice bronzy glow and I don't even need to wear blush.
2) Makeup Forever liquid eyeliner - goes on very easily and lasts all day, and such a large variety of colours.
3) Clinique lash doubling mascara - I have sparse eyelashes, and the mascara doesn't clump and doesn't irritate (I also wear contacts) and you don't need a lot of coats (I only use 1) for it to make your eyelashes stand out.

Also, Asian Beauty book by Margaret Kimura is a great book, gives makeup techniques for Asians.

hiyas... i'm a newbie here *waves* well just a lil info bout myself - i'm vietnamese, i have medium-dark skin, and i have a double crease thingy on both eyes but i have a problem, one of them is A LOT bigger than the other. people don't really notice but i tend too. does anyone else have that? i have to apply different amounts of eyeliner on to each eye and it gets annoying, i wish they were normal. they look pretty and all, and a lot of people like them, it's just that it's hard for other people to do my makeup and it gets frustrating. i'll quit complaining (please help if you have this too though!) and say some helpful things...1.almost every color of the rainbow would look gorgeous on us. even bright colors, try it sometime :D. 2.try foundations/powders/loose powder with a yellowish/tan tint. i don't know if a lot of people know that but it looks more natural on us. 3. eyeliner and mascara will make your eyes soooo much bigger and amazingly beautiful, but don't use TOO much. i think that's all of my tips though most of you guys probably already know. i do have a question though, what eyeliner lasts the longest (pencil not liquid)?

Asian eyes look best simple, because they are so naturally complex, but beautiful.

Yes yes !

Blow drying your Eyelash curler and then use it is the best thing that can happen to an Eyelash curler.

It works even better than heated Eyelash curlers that you buy. It's also economical. It keeps your eyelashes up longer and it just looks really good.

You might want to put your finger on the curler after you blow dry it to make sure that it is not too hot for your eyes.

I don't have that much time to put on makeup in the morning..so I've done it only once...

But it's awesome...

I also love blue eyeshadow, as well as experimenting with other shades like pink and gold. I just put a little on my lids, line it with a dark brown liner, and I'm good to go!
Love yourself! :)    Monday, May 13, 2002 at 16:22:56 (PDT)
