I don't want to stereotype ALL Asian women, in fact most young Asian-American women don't do this, but I'm complaining about the ones who do.
First of all, a lot of Japanese young chicks these days I've been noticing these days are very TALL and beautiful. (In fact some of them seem to be taller than the Japanese guys around here -- Japanese guys averaging about 5'8", but none taller. While most Japanese girls average around 5'6", but there are many who are taller than 5'8" -- they're 5'9", 5'10" etc.) and they have good bodies. In recent years, I've seen a lot of young Japanese girls (especially the ones who aren't acculturated into US culture and styles) wearing some really outlandish, bizarre fashions when they go out... Things like denim skirts with bright orange knee-socks or garishly colored socks pulled up to their thighs, and clunky shoes that don't really improve the picture... know what I'm sayin'?? Like clogs or sandals with socks or some other outlandish s***... And whats with a lot of Filipina chicks (usually not the younger ones, this is usually women over 30)... with the cheap plastic slutty high heeled shoes and sandals, weird (and very high) wedge shaped heels, spotted with tiger spots and stuff, weird shapes... but the shoes always look cheaply made and made of the worst materials... never leather, always plastic and vinyls and stuff. And the clear high heels, what's up with that? It always looks cheap and slutty, in fact worse than that, these are things that American white Anglo and black hookers wouldn't wear...
I AM NOT dissing Asian women because the vast majority don't commit these fashion errors and the vast majority I've seen dress nicely. It's just that often times I see Asian women (only some groups, Koreans and Chinese don't seem to do it) wearing weird styles and I wonder where they're coming from...

Asian Dominatrix - I don't know how close you are to Chicago, but another Reference store opened up in Woodfield Mall, in Schaumberg, a Northwest Suburb - just FYI!!

Personally, I would seriously love to see Zhang Ziyi wearing a pair of dark-rinsed, low-rise, Levi's jeans, barefeet, and a red tank top. She would definately be my dream date.

Moonshine,
An asian brittney spears is an asian teen female pop star in asia. K-pop, J-pop, T-pop, HK-pop has at least a dozen or so teen female idols come out every year.
PS- I thought you're supposed to wear a thong underwear to make sure the crack doesn't show.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of low riders.

low rise jeans look trashy only if you wear em trashy, and if they are a size too small and they end up so tight and low that ur butt crack shows instead of covering the whole butt. i personally dont think anyone should wear something that will reveal butt crack. its not the same thing as revealing cleavage.
AC dropout, what exactly is an asian britney spears.

Elaine,
I'm actually referring to the North Bridge mall in Chicago (several blocks south of Water Tower.)I think there's another one in the burbs too.
I have become such an addict that I check at least on a weekly basis on my way home from work. Things disappear very quickly there.
I want to hear about the sweatshops, but I guess the eds don't!

I find that dark-rinse, low-rise jeans for AF's are sexy, particularly Levi's. I feel that AF's are sexy enough in wearing them. Don't take my word for it.

Hollister Co. rules! Yeah, I know it's owned by A&F, but their clothing is really nice. It's cheap too. It's not like that Old Navy crap.

Low rise jeans *are* hot....but I don't think it looks good if you have big hips.

MLK,
"Class goes hand in hand with money"
OMG!
I think I define class as the ability to carry oneself with dignity and respect no matter what station in life one is allocated to.
Clothes are only important for the first impression. Unfortunately, there are too many people on this planet that have not seen you for the first time yet.

be,
I'll just lurk for now :)
In asia there are plenty of asian brittney spears in the media. There is just a cultural gap that prevents them from coming to the USA.

Asian Dominatrix,
You must shop @ the Cerritos Mall, right? There are only 2 Reference shops; the other one is in NY. My friend knows the owners.
I love their merchandise too. You can also shop @ the Garmet District in downtown for comparable bargains and clothes.
Regarding sweatshops, come on. You don't really want me to get into that, do you?
