well Angelique, thank you for sharing that wonderful little poem.

Oh conceited Angelique, there is no one as vain as thee,
donned with a heart so bitter, it seems only natural, for you see...
Whence born Manchurian, is but to founder and hither,
fractious at heart and plebian with a most vindictive nature.
Yet naught are we to fraught her with anathemas,
for albeit her banes and our troubles, she remains the Qing one.
And let us clear her from blame, lest we lose our aplomb to her prattle,
for keep in mind, she is only a Manchurian bum.

Now you may berate me, and scoff at the non-existance of vernacular, but remember that I merely jest with this most enlightened one.

Sorry...I couldn't help myself...

Was that a personal attack? Well, I hate to berate on generalizations of entire ethnic groups, and this was no exception.

Yes, unity! I couldn’t have said it better myself, and since people tend to disregard my rantings, then all the more reason to voice my support for you. But on the same note, need we further generalize our peoples? Northerners as our military leaders? Southerners as heads of commerce? Sigh. Southerners are all brain and northerners are all brawn? We should value each other on an individual basis, rather than discriminate and create a society of social classes established on the basis of ethnic generalizations. You probably know this, though I am adding a disclaimer for Chinese sake...

My poor attempt in poetry

---------------------------

Han, Manchu, & Cantonese
Could we unite, please?

Once we were family
Now why we become enemy?

Hundred and fifty yrs of internal turmoil.
Time to stop the blood feud on our soil.

Five thousands yrs of civilization.
But each of us is in hallucination.

May one day China re-emerge in glory.
Let's unite to make the history.

AC Dropout,

No, that Ming general forced to open the northeastern gates of the Great Wall (Shanhaiguan Pass) had his concubine abducted by the peasant rebel leader (Li Zisheng). Li was from Shaanxi (the northwest) and they led a rebellion against the Ming policies there and it spread eastward towards Beijing. Li proclaimed himself as a new emperor and the last Ming emperor killed his own family and took his own life through hanging himself on the palace grounds.

The general (Wu San-guei) was asked by Li and the rebel forces to surrender to this new authority, but he refused (because Li had taken his favorite concubine for himself). So, he went over to the Manchus and asked them to come into China. Then, he and his remnant Ming armies also joined the Manchu banner armies. That is how the Manchus entered northern China (with no conflict).

And, yes, the Ching was already a highly Sinicized group in Manchuria and Liaotung even prior to entering China. They had among them Chinese and Koreans who aided this cultural process in Manchuria.

"Let's stop the inter-Chinese hate."

But we wouldn't be Chinese if we stop this behavior entirely.

Man of Lha-sa(mancha):

Yeah!!! I totally agree with you!!!!!!
Tibetans don't consider themselves Chinese...The Manchurians do...it's absurd that there are people that would want to discourage that.

Hmm:)

Do you want me to tell you what I said in Tibetan...?

Bachra..I think means lamb..(It could be Indian though)
Cho-cho..that's like a type of noodles...?
Mo-mo... is food also, really popular in Tibet...it's so good!

I memorized these off a Tibetan Menu.

I love Tibetan food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's why I want to go to Tibet sometime.

Princess,

Interesting rhyme scheme.

As for "Shanghai and Cantonese creature/beings" being less hot than Machurians . . . I think that all this comparing between ourselves is what set off this bickering to being with. Maybe if we could all agree that there are beautiful women all over China, from Guangzhou to Harbin. Let's leave the infighting behind.
