I admit the idea that the Chinese government carrying out a eugenics program is quite far-fetched and unlikely (but then again, many Jews initially thought the same thing about the Nazis' eugenics program several decades ago, and couldn't stop it until it was too late...).

It's quite a long-shot, but how do you explain the sudden height explosion of Chinese within the last 10 years? Ten years ago, there were no Chinese in the NBA. Now there are a handful and growing. Overall, average height of Chinese has gone up within just ten short years.

BTW, I am not the first to come up with this idea. I read a Sports Illustrated article about the tall Chinese basketball players last year. In the article, there were rumors that in Shanghai, a couple where the husband is at least 6'3" and the wife is at least 5'11" was allowed to have more than one child. The rumor turned out to be false, but people are still wondering how so many Chinese 7-footers suddenly appeared.

Tall as a windmill? I remember we made windmills in kindergarten. About 12 inches give or take an inch for the length of the pencil.

I believe that the royal imperial guards (or whatever you call them) are required to be a certain height. Somewhere in the area of 184 cm or so, at the very least.

Height discrimination? Oh no!! I suppose the Chinese banks were a bit forthright, but everyone does it. We won't hire you because your portfolio was sub par? Yeah Right. It's cause you look like a monkey and you can't see over the kneecaps of your fellow employees.

People, who fall under the mean, or occasionally in excess, are kept alive in modern society because we pity them. It wouldn't be humane to simply let them die from their own ineptitudes, right? So they should just take up space because we want to be humane about it. Welcome to communism you silly people. But don't worry your poor souls because according to your Sino-phobic media, we're communists in China, so those midgets will get a hearty bowl of rice, same as everyone else. Aw, but you hate communism and want it to go to hell. Well tough, but can you see the ambivalence here?

Since you're worrying, I guess we're not communists anymore.

Hmmm...are you sure that it's a western idea? A medieval knight's coat of armour is waaay too small for me to squeeze my fat little buns into--and I am barely 5'5 (OK, I cheat a little, I'm actually only 5'4 & 3/4) and I weigh about 120 (give or take 2 pounds for the fluctuating monthlies). Now, last I checked, 5'5 is nowhere near the western standard for tall, but if tall is beautiful occidentally (hahaaha), then I am a damn gorgeous "not white" woman!

Go take a shower, brush your teeth, get into some clean clothes, put your glasses back on (or contacts if you prefer), and you'll instantly feel better. I always feel better when I do all that (well...'cept for the glasses part, 'cause I can see ok without them--not perfect, just ok) Hey, any eye doctors out there like to have a crack at this?

I have a sister who's 4'11 and I have always envied her small feet and size 1 clothing that she always grumbles about having to hem up...as if being a dainty doll is anything to grumble about. She's about 110 pounds also, but because she works out, she's full of muscles and doesn't look fat at all. Grades don't make the dumb/smart ratio, only lack of effort. I flunked statistics twice, but I do ok in math if I have a calculator and don't have to work the numbers out by sheer brainpower.

All those "...beautiful successful people in this world" would look (and smell) pretty awful too if they were sitting there at their computers with dirty hair, bad breath and wearing dirty pyjamas.

ok, sorry for being mean, but you can still shower, wash your hair, brush your teeth and stand up straight! lots of short people are attractive --not everyone can be tall!

clever eyes can be beautiful even behind glasses. you should read as much as you can!
