WHAT YOU SAY

I see a lot of opinions concerning the SGV (san gabe valley), orange county, and Pasadena and surrounding 'hoods. Well, this is the way I see it. San Gabriel Valley is good depending on where you live. There are good places and bad places filled with gang bangers galore. Monterey Park is not too bad of a place to live. The more you heads towards Rosemead, it becomes a dump. Orange County has good places and bad. Like Orange County says, the whites are becoming a minority so watch out for the rich bigots as well as the skinhead gangsters in newport beach and costa mesa (nazi lowrider hangouts). Even those places are starting to become dumps with high crime areas and gangstas. Damn, everywhere you go you just CAN'T get rid of these worthless gang scum, they are like cock-a-roaches that never go away. Santa ana, anaheim, all dumps. Irvine is probably the best bet. South pasadena, san marino, glendora, these are all good choices.

Just for your information, here are some of LA's most heavily Asian areas:
MONTEREY PARK (62%, 37,000+ people)
CERRITOS (58%, 30,000+ people)
WALNUT (56%, about 17,000 people)
SAN GABRIEL (49%, about 20,000 people)
ROSEMEAD (49%, 26,000+ people)
SAN MARINO (49%, about 6,300 people)

Where the hell does OC have lots of crime? Orange County is ranked one of the SAFEST areas in the US. Get that straight! So what that a white majority is shrinking? The place is becoming more diverse everyday.

ARCADIA, CA is NOT very affordable. The homes are way over priced, and many need a lot of work. Also, the school system is over crowded and does NOT rank as high as schools in SAN MARINO or GLENDORA. GLENDORA has superior schools, less crowding, and beautiful, affordable housing. It's one of LA's most popular places to move to. Plus there are lots of new businesses going in, and room to start new ones, so check it out.

GLENDORA, CA is the best place to live. It is VERY CLOSE to and similar to WALNUT, CA which has a population that is 56% Asian (about 17,000/30,000), one the highest in California. GLENDORA has many wonderful affordable homes, lush green parks, it's safe, and like I said it's close to other heavily Asian areas.

Orange County has some serious issues. A lot of crime. Also, the white majority is shrinking and they have it out for minorities so watch out -it's no secret that the resentment runs deep against minorities there. Irvine is your safest bet in O.C. Don't know much about the San Gabriel Valley.
Orange County    Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at 15:04:17 (PDT)
I'm hesitating between Orange County and San Gabriel Valley.
Can anybody tell me which is the best of the two.

San Marino affordable? You better talk to someone who lives there. And, good luck finding a high paying job out of Glendora. Nice place to live but your resume will not get a second glance from companies who are situated in downtown LA or on the Westside. Glendora is just too far away from civilization. Stick with South Pasadena, Arcadia and San Marino (if you can afford San Marino). Just thought I would clear that up. The San Gabriel Valley is the safest and best kept secret in Southern CA. Affluent Asians in nicer areas = high quality of living and almost no crime. Also very close to good universities and metropolitan Los Angeles for commuters.

I DO NOT recommend Arcadia, CA. Just to start, it is becoming too crowded much like Pasadena. The schools are old and overpopulated. Also, housing is extremely expensive and inconsistent.
I DO recommend GLENDORA, CA / SAN MARINO, CA. These 2 cities have friendly families, excellent schools, tree lined streets, Green parks, nice shopping villages, and beautiful affordable housing.

just curious    Tuesday, August 07, 2001 at 00:24:14 (PDT)
I agree,GLENDORA CA is an excellent choice to move. It is a great city, and the asian population has risen to 14% which is roughly 12,500/53,000. It is like Arcadia, only safer, less crowded, and better value homes.

The Inland Empire is not a great place to be if you are asain. I also went to UC Riverside and even though there are hella asains there, none of us talk to one another. Every asain group sticks to their own race. You have to join a frat or something to have some sort of social life. Either that or DRIVE a million miles just to see other asain people and do somethin exciting. Riverside has got to be the worst f*kin place in the whole world for asain people even though it is only an hour outside of LA. Im just happy to be out of there.

I love LA.

I agree with all those who suggest Glendora, CA. It is without a doubt, the BEST place to live, with all it's attractive residential neighborhoods and great school system. It's a must see, for all Asians.

I'm moving to Irvine, in Orange County, and I wanted to know if it was a good place for Asians to live in.
Thai guy    Monday, July 16, 2001 at 11:27:01 (PDT)
It's sad for me to see how many Asians are stereotyping others so readily. To me, this forum has shown me that so many people remain self-centered and ego-centric. Also a grad of UC Riverside, I sypathize with those living there, but not cuz you are Asian, but that it lacks culture and worldly people.
A native born also, i certainly don't think many of us would be here if the alien sedition act still existed - does native born asian #1 propose that we bring back the racism and lack of job opportunities for Asians as well? would you like to clean white people's laundry all your life cuz that's the only job you could get? How bout we decide that only white people can vote and own property again, while we're at it!
Yes, the Asian population is fast becoming one of the largest in CA. (Hispanics are #1, so if you don't like them, I guess you better move!) Also, no changes are going to be made if you don't start VOTING - the Asian pop has the lowest voting rate of any category - and not for republicans cuz you support big business, but for democrats cuz you support human rights and want to keep electricity in your homes.
As for best area to live, I like the Westside, too much segregation is not a good thing. Maybe Glendora is a good neighborhood, but I grew up in No. Virginia (right outside of DC) and that was a great place to raise a family. Yes, there are Asians in Virginia! And lots of them, too. And don't tell me living in a nearly all Asian neighborhood doesn't have tensions - what about those between Asian groups? Even within Chinese groups there are those from the Mainland, HK and Taiwan.

Asian immigrants who are entering pasadena are leaving behind smoldering piles of trash in L.A., which they were a large part of causation of social problems. now they want to go to glendora? I wish they'd go to Blythe or Indio, where the population is lower. We don't need more people here to ruin it for the rest of us native born asian's who are still dealing with Koreans in south central L.A. or those wonderful insects called Asian boyz and other gangs. The neat thing is that after these leeches finish raping our great country, most will go back. I say lets bring back the Alien Sedition Act.

khmer gurl, are you Vietnamese or Hmong? I heard there are tensions in Long Beach between low income Vietnamese and Hispanic gangs fighting over gang territory. Long Beach is a just a seaside ghetto. Maybe you should move out if you feel uncomfortable.
Long Beach    Thursday, June 21, 2001 at 13:07:44 (PDT)
FYI -Someone is apparently trying to cause hard feelings between Asians and Mexicans on Goldsea by posting things like this:

"i live in long beach on the eastside. Itz getting to dangerous. with them f***ing mexican always causing problems....f***..
khmer gurl"

I've seen this kind of quote too many times for it to be a coincidence now.
I'm not so sure this person is Asian, but if they are well that's there opinion so be it.

F***ing Mexican    Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 19:11:58 (PDT)

GLENDORA, CA is definitely the BEST city for Asian Americans. It has great highly ranked schools, much LESS traffic than Arcadia or Pasadena, and has gorgeous new homes that are affordable. There are many new office buildings and is plenty of open space for new homes and buisnesses. The Asian population is growing there, and it is a perfect place for Asian Americans to raise families and to start businesses.
ARCADIA, CA is the WORST place for Asian Americans. The school system is heavily overcrowded. The traffic is getting way too heavy around schools and on city streets. The homes here are over priced, and building codes have become much more strict. There is high tension between Whites & Asians. I highly recommend GLENDORA instead.

Attended UC Riverside so I know what you mean. Now would you seriously "choose" to eat sushi in the Inland Empire?
