WHAT YOU SAY

VIET SAID
Without the Civil Right movement in the 1960's, nothing would be like as it is today."
RESPONSE
Actually, no. The McCarran Walter Act of 1952 allowed "mongoloids" the right to become naturalized US citizens. (Previously, "mongoloids" were not eligible for citizenship due to race.) This Act was passed as a result of the heroism of the AJA soldiers some 8 years earlier.
The civil rights movement happened during the 60s

TSJ SAID
EH?!?! Whoever mentioned anything about being patriotic?!?!?! So, some country white boy in Nebraska is patriotic.
RESPONSE
Irrelevant.
TSJ SAID
What is your point? So you are saying Japanese are the most patriotic of all Asians?
RESPONSE
Yes.
TSJ SAID
What is your basis in saying that? Just because most Japanese here are all Americanized?
RESPONSE
No. Try the 442nd infantry/100th Bat.
TSJ SAID
Shoot, if you count up all the American born Chinese, it still adds up to more than the number of Japanese Americans.
RESPONSE
So it begs the question. How come Chinese Americans have not served in the same numbers as Japanese Americans?
TSJ SAID
Patriotism doesn't have to be proved. So, if I just say, "Yeah! I love America!" does that prove I'm patriotic? If I don't, does that mean I'm not?
RESPONSE
Words alone are cheap. President Kennedy said "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Maybe we should translate his words into Mandarin?
TSJ SAID
So, what are you? Mid-40's? Shouldn't you be more mature than to be making such petty remarks? Someone must have done you wrong for you to be so bitter.
RESPONSE
Yeah yeah, just like Penelope, gotta personally attack the speaker and not his words. For your info, look at what Hello =) said about Nanking on July 11 and then get back to me as to who is the one that is bitter.
By the way, why cannot you get along with Japanese Americans anyway? For someone so young and who harbors bitterness towards an entire race of people so early in life....such a shame.
TSJ SAID
Hey, it's all good. Chinese hate Japanese too. They still haven't gotten the chance to pay them back for their atrocities. The time will come...
RESPONSE
Tsk, Tsk! Such bitterness. There are support groups for folks like you.

PENELOPE SAID
hahaha. you're joined the army when i was born?? and you're now here on the internet arguing with kids half your age about which asian ethnicity did more for other asians in america??
RESPONSE
Your point? Argue the merits of my position. Personal attacks don't cut it.
PENELOPE SAID
i think you are old enough to be deemed hopeless if you really are as bigoted as you come across in this forum.
RESPONSE
Really? Check out the Nanking comment by Hello On July 11th and come back to me on this.
PENELOPE SAID
nice link re: wen ho lee, by the way. learn about the issue before attempting to use it to support your already senseless argument.
RESPONSE
Fair. Wen Ho Lee brings shame upon all Chinese Americans and all Asians in America.
PENELOPE SAID
by the way, the reason why everyone took the stance that that the person who f. l.a. was referring to was chinese was because 1) san gabriel valley is chinese-dominated and 2) your initial response to f. l.a. also seemed to assume that the person was chinese or vietnamese (certainly not japanese).
RESPONSE
See this quote from Hello
How typical of a japanese person to invade chinese territory only to attempt to assert japanese superiority.
you're eventually going to have to leave the san gabriel valley, just like your ancestors eventually had to leave nanking.
hello =) Thursday, July 11, 2002 at 11:58:23 (PDT)
Penelope, it was Hello=) who made the assumption. Not I.
PENELOPE SAID
why is it racist to hold an english-only mentality? because we are no longer a "melting-pot" society. we are a "salad bowl". get with it, old man!
RESPONSE
Salad bowl? That we Americans have to learn the language of those who immigrate here as an accomodation? Let's use bortokill's scenario. Take 1000 Asian Americans and see if they agree with this.
Oh by the way, show respect to your elders.

PEACE SAID:
What happened to the Japanese Americans being shoved into camps and stinking horse tracks ain't gonna happen to the Chinese Americans. NEVER. You can trust me on that.
RESPONSE:
You are SOOOO CORRECT! The Chinese Americans will never endure what the Japanese Americans endured. The racist and hateful legacy that was bestowed upon the AJAs will never again happen en masse to another racial group in the US, Chinese American or not.
The shameful experience of the AJAs was a lesson that the US will never forget.
The Chinese Americans (or any other group for that matter) need not worry. The AJAs already paid the price for this and we are now allowed due process of law.
You can trust me on that.

BORNTOKILL SAID:
"If you walked into a room that had a 1000 Japanese Americans inside and started talking the way you do now. How many JA would actually agree with your beliefs?"
RESPONSE:
I don't know. What beliefs of mine are you referring to?
Why don't you get 1000 AJAs together and lets find out!
Besides, I am not speaking for all of them, I'm speaking only for me.
That being said, What of my position you find invalid?
BORNTOKILL SAID:
"Half of the stuff you're talking about, are not really issues, but more a reflection of your ethnic bias toward the Chinese/ ABCs"
RESPONSE"
You are wrong. My position is based upon what way written by Hello =)on July 11 and is in quotations below:
"how typical of a japanese person to invade chinese territory only to attempt to assert japanese superiority.
you're eventually going to have to leave the san gabriel valley, just like your ancestors eventually had to leave nanking."
hello =) Thursday, July 11, 2002 at 11:58:23 (PDT)
Let's get those 1000 AJAs to see this posting by Hello =) where we are being blamed for possessing a superiority attitude and for the atricities in Nanking and see how the 1000 AJAs respond.
Fair?

VIET SAID:
"what would happen to a white guy in japan during WWII?"
RESPONSE
Why is this relevant? Sounds like you feel that the Americans of Japanese descent needed to be imprisoned because of this speculation of yours.
Funny thing, the government used this exact point as one of their excuses for the incarceration.
Racist? You bet!
So are you.

"Why do I need to be patriotic to a society that will never accept me?"
Hey, you can always go back to your home country. Maybe they will accept you there.
