WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Have you ever fought???? If you fight with someone who knows anything then it would be over very fast. I think you are OVERESTIMATING your abilities to take down a person. I admit i overestimated my abilities before too. some guys can take a huge beating and still fight. For example a women was stabbed 5 times in a 2 hour period and she was still standing. I have tried the "devasting" knee smashing karate kick. What a bunch of BS. It dont work. If i get in a fight and someone tries to kick me. I really dont give a shit. It might hurt, but its over once we get in range.
Why dont you try fighting for real and find out!. The kicks are worthless. With the exception of the front kick.
and if you think the UFC guys are wimps. Think again. They can play dirty any day. It's not hard to switch between clean and dirty fighting. even if you stab a UFC champ, punch him 10 times, chances are, he'll break you like a twix bar. Why do you diss them anyway???. you think training 4 hrs a day 6 days a week is useless? that any punk who dosent train can take them???.
Like i said before, fight for real and you'll know what works. For the "world class competetors in TKD" I'll kick their ass. PERIOD.

here is a comment to SOG if you say that that kicking is´ent useful and traditional martial arts are ineffective then i strongly disagree
because i have seen TKD practiceners who can kick as fast as lightning
an then how come if traditional martial arts are ineffective then how have they survived until now u tell me.
Me i practice Wushu but i love all martial arts an i would love to studing all kinds of martial arts.

SOG,
Have you ever watched international TKD competitions. No one throws a flying kick.
Most people who are not familar with TKD usually make the mistake you are stating. TKD is like western boxing, but for the feet.
If you are telegraphing your kicks, it means you should practice in front of the a mirror more. The beginning motion of the front, 45 roundhouse, 90 roundhouse, side, and ax kick should all look the same. The backkick and reverse spin should also look the same starting out.
No one practices kicks just against a heavy bags. It develops the wrong conditioning. Since kicking require more follow through motions, which most bags won't allow. There are specific kicking drills for heavy bags. But they usually only focus on one leg drills, or knockout kicks. Most world class competitors in TKD use speed paddle training. Since strength is usually a given in kicks.
UFC...I'm not going to touch that again. All I have to say any UFC guy can be taken down in a back alley fight, and any back alley fighter can be taken down in UFC ring. It all about training to fight in a specific environment.
