SOG,
"When most people on this forum read "martial arts" what do they think of? guns, explosives? or hand to hand? I am willing to bet the latter. DUH"
Whenever you enter a pysical confrontation do you even know what your goals are?
Are you trying to kill your opponent? Are you trying to maim your opponent?
Are you in a sporting match with your oppenent?
Are you trying to make an example of your opponent to rival gangs?
If you do training in martial arts you will have an easy time with pedestrians in a majority of your conflict. The problem arise when you meet someone who has trained more than you, or is more skillful than you, or more talented. Because they will be aware of these techniques you favor.
So if you enjoy fighting as much as I do, and have as much experience as I do. You will understand why I am critical of your comments.
Remember in none of my post do I discredit anyone's techniques. Prior to pursuing TKD as an Olympic goal, I studied Praying Mantis and Long Fist Kung Fu for 10 years. So I am also very familar with hand techniques, and grappling techniques. I just enlightened people to what can be done with your feet in a conflict.

I never said the SEALs finished their training at BUD/s. Sheesh do we have to go so technical???
Also to the judo guy. Yes i am a mean guy when i fight. I dont fight unless someone tries to kill me or hurt someone else. I dont like seeing that crap and if i see it, the bad guy(s) is going down. I fight to the death, when i go in, i am ready to die. That said, i obviosly dont mess around. I suggest you change your perception of "bad" cause bad people out there dont give a f***. There are no rules in the street, winning is everything. Also there is no fair fight, they could be 4 5 guys against you alone. Dont have time to grapple or fight "clean", gotta go dirty to have any sort of chance to win. Since i only fight thugs for defense and to the death, i really dont care about their well being.
To ac dropout. Cut the bs man. Listen, i dont care what you think, what you do etc. I am just posting my experience for others to read. Your comment is just so hilarious. When most people on this forum read "martial arts" what do they think of? guns, explosives? or hand to hand? I am willing to bet the latter. DUH

ac dropout,
I think we should stop arguing over which martial art is the best and say that one martial art doesnt have all the answers, sometimes you need those harsh moves like eye gouging, sometimes you need high knockout kicks, it just depends on when. Thats why were all saying that we are going to train in other martial arts.

What -- What the hell is this?! Taekwondo being the best martial art?
I personally think the best form of fighting -- although western based -- is boxing. Hitting someone in the face (specifically the nose) with either your fist; or hitting in the eye with a finger jab is much more effective than doing a silly spinning back heel kick anyday.
Personally, my favourite martial art has to be Judo/Jujitsu simply on the basis of what I have seen in the UFC and Pride. I would'nt suggest doing any 'tiger crane' or tiger styles of kung fu in a real fight -- LOL!

AZN REalist,
I wouldn't say guns are boring. One could develop a whole new form set using them. Look at HK movies, they love using traditional martial art moves with guns.
