AC Dropout,

Seems you are very well rounded, and you have intelligent acquaintances.

Thanks for your response. If this site is here in sixty years, and if I'm still here in sixty years, then I'll post the question again.

I've also read both books, "Book of the Five Rings" and "Art of War".

I've heard in some universities "Book of the Five Rings" is required reading for some business classes.

I read your post in the true story section. It is interesting commentary on who you are as a person, and who you are as a martial artist.

I found this website on accident a couple of weeks ago. I was actually looking up some info on friends of mine, and one hit was a hyperlink to a post on athletes here with their names in it. It interested me enough for me to read some of the polls. I'm glad I did. It's been interesting to say the least. I didn't want to post anything at first because I didn't want to offend people or get too involved defending my point or my culture.

I posted something on another poll, and after I did it I realized how I was getting too consumed on explaining my point. So what I didn't want to happen has happened, so I'm going to bow out.

Trading posts with you has been cool. Thanks again. I probably won't be back anytime soon, so take care and once again good luck on your path.

----------------------------------------

To all the other Martial Artists here, select a realistic path. The path you select should influence the choices you make. There was only one Bruce Lee. Remember Martial Arts are more than physical, there are also a mental side and a spiritual side to it.

You should develop your mind as you develop your physical skills.

If you're only learning so you can beat people up, then you're in for a world of hurt. Reality will visit you soon enough.

Good luck, and pick wisely.

Tea Kwon Do is the best martial art for me becuse its philosophy is great and it has change my life alot. I am a yellow belt I been practicing seven months but I spent two of them in a cast because I broke my feet doing a back kick.

I hope everyone knows this. Did you know that kung fu and karate originated in India? Now you know, people. The Hindus many thousands, and thousands of years ago taught this to the Chinese in China, along with Buddhism.

"Have you ever read "Musashi"?"

I'm not really into historical fiction, reminds me of those ancient Chinese Wuxia (martial art hero) novels. But my circle of aquaintance tell me much about the book. I've read the book Musashi wrote BOOK OF FIVE RINGS. Nice read but isn't as provacative as ART OF WAR.

Your Musashi and Kojiro question, in western term is have I exprienced transcendalism. Or have I gained enlightenment from my experiences in fighting. Or am I grounded forever to the superficial wins and perfecting techniques.

Don't know which guy I'm more like, ask me in 60 years when I have journeyed some more and will be able to reflect on the path I've taken.

As to killing someone while sniping. Hmmm...just concentrate on the breathing. Like working out at the gym when your lifting beyond your max. Just breath, forget about the motion of lifting, and the next thing you know your reps done. I'm sure hunting deer and humans are not that much different. BOOK OF THE FIVE RINGS...it all in the timing and proper frame of mind.

My enjoyment of fighting was not for the rush, although that's pretty fun too. It was for the control. The control of my body as I threw advance techniques. The control of my opponents in the ring. And ultimately the control over the final outcome.

But of course people who choose delibrately to fight have pretty complex reasoning and motivations behind them. They're not all exactly the same, but there is always something dark motivating them.
