TSJ and AC,
Changing the topic...
I was talking to this Italian American from the SF/Bay Area who now lives in NYC. She said New Yorkers are well respected for their work ethic and efficiency in other areas of the US especially in the Bay Area. Not to say that NYers are all that...but living in the Big Apple is no easy task. The fact that you are a New Yorker or someone who has worked here will certainly enhance your resume.
Any Bay Area residents making a move to the Big Apple? Haha...

TSJ,
Never heard of a district in NYC called Shaolin. Soho maybe.

Synergy parties are the WORST ASIAN parties. I've been to Asian parties in LA, NY, Chicago, Seattle, and Dallas, and nothing compares to the ghetto vibe that I got from a synergy party. They should have metal detectors out in the front.
Hope SF scene has more to offer than just synergy

LSD:
You are right about the other cities being small. SF is only about 40 square miles, and has about 700,000+ residents. Most "Asian" cities around here in Norcal, like Daly City, Milpitas, and Union City all have less than 120,000 people. Fremont has a little over 200, and Oakland a little over 400. Only San Jose hovers around the 1 million mark.
NYC dwarfs all other cities population wise. Everything is so condensed, unlike CA, which sprawls for miles and miles on end. All the Asian areas, other than SF, are surburban, with rows upon rows of tract housing, and "Ranch 99" strip malls."
This may be off subject, but when people think of Asian American culture, it always seems to stem from CA. I'm not talking about the traditional stuff, but the more Americanized ways. For instance, the souped up car craze started out here. Now, as I read magazines, I see that it is blowing up across the country. This may or may not have anything to do with being Asian. CA seems to have influence over much of the country regardless.
AC:
I'm not talking about where the temples are. I think there is some region or district called Shaolin. Maybe it is just a nickname or something.

TSJ,
Flushing and the Lower East Side can easily dwarf many cities with a significant amount of Asians. What do I mean by this? Well, Flushing and the Lower East Side and their surrounding areas are just as big as some US city like Seattle, SF, SD and Houston.
The Lower East Side alone is the size of San Francisco.
Unlike the gigantic Los Angeles, NY is a connected city. It has sections that are all linked together. In LA, neighborhoods are isolated by trees and hills, which makes people wonder if it is a city in the 1st place.
With this said and done, the NY Asian Demographic issue is incomparable with other cities.

I also here there was a shaolin temple / martial art training center in Mahatten somewhere. But never seen the place personally.
There's a Wu-tang school on Northern Blvd and Prince in Flushing too.
